Fayetteville also had an open week, so even though they had a lot to deal with, unfortunately, they have had some time to heal up also. If they can focus, going from the high of sewing up the school’s first ever district championship to having to say goodbye to a teammate, the off-week has been tumultuous. Tomorrpw, though, things get back to a normal game week schedule. We’ll see Friday the mental state of the team.

I couldn’t imagine what the family, friends and community are going through. Praying for you all.

Fayetteville will be ready to play.  It's a long ride up there.  We travel pretty well this year, even so.   The last time we played there a kid told the team as they were getting off the bus,  "Y'all sure came a long way to get your (expletive deleted) kicked."  It shook some of our players up that a 90lb kid had that kind of swagger.  Our coaches thought it was great!  It's a fun story that a few of us old timers tell every year.  The ride home is not too bad if you win. On a side note, the kind words and statements of support and prayer for our community and school family are much appreciated!  Go TIgers!!!

I do not for one moment think that the events of the last week will impact our team's desire to show ANY opponent what they are capable of, and their newfound focus and rallying cry to continue their success.  As somebody on another thread mentioned, "I feel sorry for their next opponent".  Esp. if they are the ones bringing up that stupid question of eligibility of one of our players.

Are you saying Gville is who questioned the player's eligibility?

No.  I have no proof of who it was, only know that earlier we were contacted and cleared by TSSAA.  I don't see any logical reason why an out-of-region opponent would even be interested.

Croz,How is your team health wise compared to the Coalfield game?

We are much healthier. We still have 3 or 4 still out,  and we may get 1 or 2 of them back. One good thing though is that our QB is settling into the role, and the offense is looking better as they've played more together.

That's what I was gonna say. Gville would have nothing to gain. The way you worded it made it seem that you thought your next opponent is who contacted the TSSAA.

Good y’all got cleared!  But be careful, that Childress man as @MountainTroll and @Roy Dillard refer to him, has been known to make mistakes then come back and cover himself.

    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
