Reclassification

I'd favor the cutoffs being a little flexible if it keeps a rivalry together, or if it keeps a school from having each of its region games 90 minutes to 2 hours away. As it is, there are always a few schools that are over the set cutoff break in each class but the largest, even if it's not meeting the 20 percent growth or drop guidelines for a change.

I'd agree with that. I mean honestly there are schools who are 1 and 2 students away from being a class lower or class higher. That makes nominal difference.

When y'all tried to bail when the district was made I thought t$$aa was going to accept it because it didn't make since to us for yall and us to travel that far. Now that republic joined yall should have more ammo to move.

I agree FB. Schools should have more lattitude to do whats best for them especially when has to do with voluntarily playing up. Again one reason i think we need to drop at least one division is to place more schools in 5 divisions to give more options.

Any chance any of these schools or others decide to play football starting next reclassification cycle?  Forgive me if I left a private school in by mistake.

Although they have the numbers, I seriously doubt MLK or Hume-Fogg try to field teams which is why they co-op with PC and Hillwood.  I do find it interesting that H-F co-ops with Hillwood when there are several schools that are closer in proximity.

Greenville or Alcoa would come out the east. Middle Tn would have some NICE regions. West TN would be interesting also

Here are a few plans that should be looked at:

Public/Private, Rural/Urban Split (6 total classes) 5 playoff rounds

A: Private    AA: Private

A: Urban    AA: Urban

A: Rural    AA: Rural

2 Private 4 playoff rounds

3 Public Classes 5 playoff rounds

To keep T$$AA's thirst for money at bay, allow them to sanction bowl games for a cut of the gate, smaller than a playoff cut $1-2.00.  Local Bowl Games have a lot of cool flavor and need to make a return, but when you have winless teams automatically in due to 4 team regions in 6 classes, it is impossible to have decent ones.  I would bet they'd make more money this way, than the current system.  Attendance has been dropping under this 6 class system.

Allow ANY team that wants to move up, to do so.

Allow teams with a 10 year record below 33% to petition to drop 1 classification for 1 cycle, remaining in that class in subsequent cycles, per board approval thereafter.

So What is Urban? MiddleTN, memphis,Chatt and Knoxville? Traveling would be ridiculous for rural schools.

It isn't already? When rural schools make a run, and even some urban schools, the travel is already pretty crazy.

It is an idea... I am not sure what population would constitute urban/rural, but there is tremendous disparity between a William Blount, Heritage, Campbell County, Cherokee etc. and an Oak Ridge, Maryville, etc.
