Round 2 - West vs Oak Ridge

I just don't see us winning this game, especially with our starting QB probably being hampered with a non-throwing shoulder injury that was suffered in tonight's game @ SD. He probably won't be 100% for this game, and that's even if he does end up playing. Coach Gaddis said he probably would, but we will see. Either way, I see it being a 35-17 type game going in West's favor. Hope I'm wrong though. We tend to up our game against really good opponents and play down to competition though, so we will see. Maybe they will surprise me.

Well OR just took out the 1 seed so you are obviously playing strong.  Great time to be peaking.  West played a pretty balanced game tonight, but against an overmatched opponent.  What pulled it out against Soddy tonight?  Was Soddy’s #1 rating just too high or did OR kick in another gear?

I mean we played a good game, but SD has no business being a 1 seed. That region they are in with Ooltewah, RC, and Walker Valley is really down this year. I think we will give West a pretty good game, but I will be surprised if we win. But, our guys play up to competition like I was saying earlier. If we can get back to how we played against Mount Juliet and Powell we have a chance, but gotta cut down on turnovers, improve in kick coverage, and keep the negative yardage plays to a minimum.

When they took out Catholic, that left that Region only four teams, so if you show up and play you make the playoffs. I think Rhea is the best team down there right now, Soddy must have caught them on an off night, Rhea goes to mighty Powell, the Wing T might be a problem for the Panthers for a while, but I think Powell gets the win, Oak Ridge at West, West is loaded with size and talent, and has a really good defense that is hard to move the ball against, The WIldcats will need some breaks to go their way to get the win, but probably we will see a West vs Powell matchup in Week 3. The Winner of that one has a good shot to be in Cookeville.

    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
