That’s the thing, its saying multiple schools. There’s definitely something to it, like I said all it takes is for a player to say Coach X talked to me after X game and Powell is screwed. Then it’s  not He said he said anymore.

I don't have any inside information, so this is a bit of a devil's advocate take. Why would a coaching staff, who already had to forfeit 6 wins the previous year, openly recruit kids postgame (in broad daylight/nightlight)? That doesn't make a lot of sense, on the surface. It seems like you'd have to be really arrogant, or really stupid, to do something so blatant even with all of the recruiting that currently goes on. And maybe Lowe (and his staff) is that arrogant and/or stupid. But I'll let TSSAA decide how to handle these allegations.

We all know that Lowe has gotten his fair share of OOZ players, right, wrong, or indifferent. Combined with his persona, I'd say there are at least a few coaches with an ax to grind.

I think I'm pretty level-headed on the T, but I'm not exactly sure that TSSAA will do anything in this situation, unless there is some pretty damning evidence presented. Without that, you're just looking at a lot of he said-he said. If it hadn't been for the situation with the ineligible RB last year, we probably wouldn't even be hearing about this.

The Powell AD publicly came out yesterday and is backing his coaches, FWIW. We'll see what happens. Friday night could be a beat down in the wake of all of this. Same thing happened vs. West last year, which immediately followed the forfeiture of those 6 wins.

Nothing will happen right now due to the playoffs but I'd say in the off season is when you'll see the sanctions by TSSAA or a resignation. We as a community knew bringing him back we would operate in the gray area so anyone who pays attention should not be surprised with the quick turnaround. I expect Matt to have them ready to take it out on Rhea Co. but feel it'll be too much of a distraction moving into next week or beyond.

They may very well "take it out" on Rhea County but our young men will be able to look in the mirror the next morning. You may cheat yourself to a few wins here and there but the day of reckoning always seems to come. If the Eagles miraculously win this game they will have done it the right way and not "if you are not cheating you ain't trying"     GO EAGLES!

I’m with you on multiple points here.

Here's the thing that people forget about high school sports.  The Powell kids aren't cheating.  If anyone is cheating it's adults.  So the Powell kids will "be able to look in the mirror the next morning" too.  Hold off on your righteous indignation...

Yes! Couldn’t agree more. Ultimately, the young men haven’t done anything wrong. The sad part is it really only hurts them in the long run. People forget that as well.

HERE'S THE THING..........Powell kids know if there are team mates that don't belong on the team. Sure, they are not responsible for it but they are going to suffer all the same. What about the honest player that loses his starting position because they brought in a ringer?

This I am in 100% agreement with. I feel bad for those kids. The kids themselves have done nothing wrong. The adults in this matter are ridiculous!

Wrong.  They don't know.  Legal transfers happen all the time.  Those kids can live in another zone and play a different school.  The transfer isn't illegal.  The recruiting is.

    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
    • No my fight, but ... if they were already college-caliber prior to transferring to BHS, and they already had FBS interest, and they end up at an FBS school, how did Bearden do anything for them?
