I knew all year ... I just don't ever predict high school games ... you did call for the Oakland win ... I'll be nice and not even bring up everything Maryville has done pre 6A ... Bottom line ... Maryville has 5 of the 10 - 6A Gold balls ... Oakland - 1 . Maryville has won a few games away from Maryville high school . I just hope no one tries to change the rules again to where all semi-final games have to be played in Murfreesboro ... I'm just kidding ... sort of .

Score wise I never predicted Oakland to win, but in so many words I did. Had I been forced to predict a score then you would have been correct I would have taken Oakland.

From the professional, down to the collegiate, on to high school, football is on a different level when it comes to sports it's nothing like it. I always treat sports as what it is as entertainment, so I never lose sleep on who wins or lose a game until Friday night, I'm not going to lie I didn't sleep good, it's going to take me a couple days to accept the fact that Oakland lost.

I'm usually working Friday nights so instead of attending games I'm usually listening to it on the radio, my intentions was only listening to the 1st quarter of the maryville vs db game because nobody took that game serious, but I got sucker into listening to it to the start of the 3rd because I was surprised on how good db played that night. So that really had me thinking if db could play that well against maryville imagine what Oakland going to do, man was I ever wrong.

The refs were from Middle TN lol

No I wasn't in attendance I only listened to it, the refs were fair, I couldn't tell any bias, maryville just took it to them, However just cause the refs where from middle tn could backfire, let's just say 1 of the refs attended Blackman he/she probably isn't going to favor Oakland and vice versa if the refs where from east tn an 1 of them is a Wb alumni that could not go well in maryville favor.

The Refs are from neutral areas during the playoffs, so I’m assuming when RW87 says Middle Tn area she’s probably talking about Nashville, not the Murfreesboro area . The refs weren’t perfect but they seldom are , I’m for just letting the kids play unless it’s something blatant that truly changes the Game . I’m hoping Maryville and Oakland get to do it again next year , I like this rivalry and I think we’ve both made each other better

I saw Alcoa and Oakland defense this year. Both of them are great.  But! The best defense in the state belongs to  Maryville High School.  How many defenses can hold Alcoa to 3 points and shut out Oakland.  Maryville held both those team to a little over 100 yds of offense.  Maryville also shut down good offensive teams like McMinn County, Bradley County, Dobyns Bennett  and Farragut in the playoff game.  Farragut is the only team the moved the ball really well during the regular season game. Maryville also had 2 key starters out that game.

Last night's game was a thing of beauty.  Defense was sensational.  Ethan Ensley was unblockable.  This defense is one of the best in school history.

Defense was truly truly impressive.....gonna have to put them 2nd by a hair.....behind MBA......seen them both this season.....and whats so impressive bout MBA's is their ant 1 P5 player on the team

Every fanbase has that group of fans who will take the coward's way out and blame officiating for everything and Oakland is no different

Maybe so but Oakland should be very proud of how the ACTUAL Oakland fans on here always show a lot of Class . We definitely know the bandwagon fans trying to stir up trouble aren’t the real Oakland fans .

Booger’s hard to impress! LoL you must really be impressed with Pearl Cohn then since they scored 21 points against MBA ... I guess holding Alcoa and Oakland to a total of 3 points can’t compare to that ! LoL .  j/k Booger , it’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it ! Hope you enjoyed your Visit to the Black Hole !

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
