the more i think about it. baugus throw a horrific pick 6 against Riverside and played bad in the state title game. how on earth did he win. mcclendon in hi slast game rushed for 5 tds almost 300 yards and didnt even make the top 3. not political at all right. baugus wasnt even the 5th best player on his own team.

Not sure why you have some fascination with Baugus but as I stated on the other post, your bashing a player based on the two games you happened to listen to or watch because your team lost. You have no idea what Baugus has done for the three years he has started at QB at Peabody or what he has overcome to be named Mr. Football, Back to Back State Champ or MVP of last year's state championship game. He was playing with a banged up shoulder in the two games your basing his entire high school career on. He threw one interception the entire regular season before getting hurt. Do some research before you get on here saying a player wasn't deserving of the award. You need to get out of your Mom's basement & get a life instead of hiding behind a message board bashing teams & their players. Anyone from the West TN area will tell you that Baugus more than deserved Mr. Football. He's an outstanding player & a high character person that does a lot for his community, You could learn a lot from the kid actually.

Sophomore year threw for more than a thousand yards and rushed for more than a thousand yard.  Peabody was one touchdown away from beating the eventual state champions union that year.  Jarel didn’t play he was hurt.  I say if he played we beat union city possibly and blow out Columbia academy. They got donkey stomped by union city.

juinor year threw for more than a thousand rushed for over a thousand yards. MVP of state championship game. Without him we don’t win.

Senior year threw for over a thousand rushes for 6-700.  Led the team to another championship.

He has great grades in school and is a overall great kid.

General you make me have an irrational love/hate relationship with you. Sometimes you post good game analysis & then other times you come way out of left field. I agree with one of the posters above, you’re basing 2 games that you have watched on Baugus’ whole season. That kid was way more than deserving of winning Mr. Football. He passed for 3,909 yards, 51 TDs, 18 INTs, & rushed the ball 367 times for 2,454 yards & 39 TDs as a 3 year starter. He had thrown for over a 1,000 & only 1 INT all year through the regular season. The kid comes from a great family & his commitment to serving his community is unlike anything many people have seen by a high school kid. I always remember seeing on Peabody’s Facebook page of him being involved with some type of special olympics or community service just about every weekend. Just think you should do a little more digging on this before making an outlandish statement like that.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
