Your exactly right. Still the defending champs. Coach Wilkins deserves Coach of the year no doubt.

Yeah they were bad. Our big girl was getting hammered about everytime we had the ball down low. She was still the high scorer for the game. Games are won or lost at the free throw line.  GC has always been solid there. Go Pioneers.

Wilkins is a good coach but Just Curious how many championships Wilkins has?  I believe coach Rogers has several more than him.  I am pretty sure Rogers has more rings than Wilkins does appearances at the state tournament

Coach Wilkins derserves Coach of the year for losing a ton of players and still rolling. Coach Rogers is a great coach but he didn’t lose any players. Here you go blasting on GC again. Why are you so jealous of GC?

If you will read I stated coach Wilkins is a great coach which he is but to make comment that he is BEST in the tournament?   I just mentioned how successful coach Rogers has been and still is.

I don’t know if he is the best coach in the tournament but he ought to be coach of the year this year. I wouldn’t trade him for any of the others at this point with what he have coming up. Coach Rogers is a great coach and well respected by GC.

My friend...do you even know what the thread was about? Coach of the year for "this year". Not how many rings you have.  Let me ask you, how many years has Roger's been coaching girls basketball?  I'm curious. Coach of the year is based on how well you do with the team you have. And developing them to compete at a high level. As I have stated, we lost 75% of our scoring from last year. I said nothing about how many rings anyone has. Go to a different thread for that one. I'll wait!

I agree totally. Coach Wilkins will always have his team well prepared for every game  Same for Coach Rogers they are well prepared and  play hard    Sad day they cancelled with 4 teams ready to go tomorrow

I still stand by my comments. He is the the best in this year's as far as single A. Roger's is a good coach, but he has a lot of returning players. He's good. IMO Wilkins has done more with less talent. We started a freshman and sophomore who had very little state Tournament experience. The sophomore was high scorer for the game. I'm not bashing Coach Roger's he is a good coach. But, based on "this season", coach Wilkins has done more with less. And I stand by that comment.

      RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
