But the CDC has in fact adopted these protocols and guidelines. It’s not been publicized very well however. My contacts (Nurses and Health Professionals) in Alabama say they all received letters recently that says if they tested positive but are asymptomatic, they should continue with work as usual per CDC guidelines. Evidently, they feel strongly that asymptomatic people cannot spread this. Again, it’s this behind the scenes stuff from the CDC that is not publicized in the media...it’s maddening for the truth to not get out there properly and for these political games to be continuing. This is a major development, yet the media doesn’t cover it.

So the CDC (not their employers or other body) actually contacted these individuals and told them to do that? In this day and age, something like that would leak or be reported by someone. Fox News would jump on that in a heartbeat, especially if the CDC guided them specifically to do that.

I'm a federal contractor, and we are required to follow CDC guidance (in addition to our own more-restrictive guidelines). As of today, we have received nothing like that from the CDC.

Two questions:

The plan still seems to be to open up, shut down, open up, shutdown, and repeat. Is there possibly some middle ground to get out of this “close our eyes and cross our fingers” plan?

How about the stud quarterback whose girlfriend/brother/Sunday school teacher is sick but refuses to be tested the week of the big game. Can he still play with only that minor cough?

Nope. It's a letter from their employers on behalf of the state that cites the new CDC guidelines. We will wait and see what all comes out about this soon. It is big news. In other words, we've been under the impression that asymptomatic people can transfer this, which is why everything is such a mystery because we don't know who and where we can get this from. If this is indeed true or if it's extremely rare, then we are back to square one...just like any other illness throughout the year.

Below is the quote from the WHO official that drew such backlash. She said the evidence we have available shows asymptomatic transmission to be rare. What evidence did they have? Different countries doing contact tracing on individuals testing positive but having no symptoms. They rarely found other infections related to them. Her statement was called reckless and dangerous. Another example of information that makes the virus seem less harmful being repressed while any info making the virus seem extremely dangerous being promoted.

=====================================================

"From the data we have, it still seems to be rare that an asymptomatic person actually transmits onward to a secondary individual," Van Kerkhove said on Monday.

"We have a number of reports from countries who are doing very detailed contact tracing. They're following asymptomatic cases, they're following contacts and they're not finding secondary transmission onward. It is very rare -- and much of that is not published in the literature," she said. "We are constantly looking at this data and we're trying to get more information from countries to truly answer this question. It still appears to be rare that an asymptomatic individual actually transmits onward."

Fwiw, a tremendous amount of the data cited were from a handful of provinces in China.

There are mixed feelings about the WHO in all of this, but as of July 9, they maintain that "the extent of truly asymptomatic infection in the community remains unknown" and that "transmission from infected people without symptoms is difficult to study." So I guess they are just really good at talking out of both sides of their mouth.

It seems like Gov. Lee is getting ready to allow high school football and soccer to go on as scheduled. That would make total sense. It would be welcomed news for coaches and student-athletes all over this state.

where are you seeing this at?
