I think York makes it over Macon this year. Haven’t seen them this year but I seen them last year a few times and they were very talented.  If Upperman stays on course and doesn’t have a hiccup in the championship game then there will be no beating them in Baxter in the substate game.

Did you see the Meigs/Upperman games last year? And if so and if Meigs can win the region, can Meigs get over the hump and win a substate game at home? Meigs has played in 4 straight substate games only to fall short.

South Greene state champ.

Upperman state champ

Macon

Upperman

Meigs had their chances win that substate game last year against Upperman, and in my opinion should have won it.  I've said it before ~ it's vital for Meigs to win the region championship so they can host Macon, or York, or whomever in substate at Meigs. From looking at Upperman's scores this year, it appears that neither Meigs or McMinn Central have much of a chance of beating Upperman up there in substate.
Meigs and McMinn Central's substate games the last 4 years have been against the best in the state.

I think this year the higher seed host all the way through district and region. So if Meigs can win the the regular season and district tournament they will play at home.

I was able to watch Upperman play Bradley Central earlier this year and after watching that game I knew right away this Upperman team was going to be special.  They dominated BC in the 2nd half of that game. Bradley Central is a very good team they had superior height and speed yet couldn’t handle Uppermans constant full court pressure and Upperman is so good at scoring the basket that you feel like if the other teams misses one shot it’s game over.

That makes sense not having all the teams and fans playing at one place every night with this corona virus stuff.  I heard the Middle School tourney was going to do that too.

That's the game that convinced me that Upperman was a cut above everyone else. They beat the Bearettes like a rented mule.

I was surprised with the ease Meigs had winning this game. I thought it would be much closer to that playing at Central.
I think they'll play each other for the district and region championship. Upperman is out of reach for either team in substate - not sure about how good Macon is, especially after their game last night.

Hey Buc, I believe we got Meigs best, and we played horribly last night.  Give credit to Meigs, they shot lights out and have a solid ball team.  I think or maybe hope it will be a better game next go around.

My updated Top 10:

1. Upperman - really, really good

2. Jackson South Side - crazy deep, crazy athletic

3. Grainger - in the midst of a soft spot in their schedule; play Bearden and Alcoa later this year

4. Northview Academy - only loss is to Bearden; play Alcoa and North Greene in the next 7 days

5. Westview - weak schedule this year as their district is down; PG gives them a chance in any game

6. Macon County - lost 3 of last 4 (York, Ensworth, Upperman)

7. Meigs County - big win over McMinn Central

8. Covington - physical, tough

9. York Institute - continue to improve, get rematches with Upperman and Macon in the next few weeks

10. Westmoreland - tough, defensive team; play Macon County on Saturday

Teams to watch (no particular order): Livingston Academy, Creekwood, McMinn Central, Alcoa, Stewart County, Fayette-Ware

    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
    • No sir. I watched it specifically and it was very dirty. He cleated the boy on purpose. Apparently, it’s an issue in football as well from what several schools have said. That said, looking forward to a good game 3. ER hit it well in game 2.
    • He is the transfer. 5star spoke on him in their new qb1 series. Didn’t list em as a transfer but I knew the name
