This kind of has a Whitwell feel.

Except for we have been relevant for more than just 1 year. We’re just not a good team this year. You gotta have the talent and experience to compete, but we don’t. Just young and inexperienced. They’ll get better but I believe this team can only do so much. With these types of teams you gotta have patience and composure and just develop them week by week. And ask for 100% effort. That’s about all we can do this year.

Yeah I guess there is a big distinction between GB and Whitwell. When is the last time you guys have had this kind of season?

2009 3-7,this one will be worse.I believe we will play mostly Freshman from here out. They are very talented and need experience. We will be back to being "unlike Whitwell" before long.LOL.

Coach Ryan was asked about THE RIVALRY,He gave the right answer "Its not a rivalry till they beat us".OS has NEVER beat us till last night and the won a well deserved win.So I guess you could say it's a rivalry now.:roflolk:

Experience this year will still be on the field in alot of places next year for you guys. It will eventually pay dividends maybe this year or definitely the next.

Beating a team once still isn’t a rivalry. Back and forth is what makes one like us with you all, Rockwood, Coalfield. Both gotta compete to be a rivalry to me.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
