I just read this again and happen to notice that what the coach is saying here does not jive with what we were told about the "Covid player" in some previous post here. Either there is more than one player that tested positive or their not keeping their story straight. Anybody else notice this? Sounds like the anonymous call wasn't so anonymous after all.

So who’s lying here? The coach says there was a positive and the player didn’t practice with the team Thursday, then you got ole jalen here saying we don’t have COVID on this team... the whole story doesn’t line up.

Comment from McMinn County coach Bo Cagle on the situation at Dobyns-Bennett: "We got positive confirmation on the way up there that we had a COVID case on the team. Now the thing about it was, the COVID case was not with the team." (1/2)"So we thought everything would be all right once we got the word, and then they (D-B) got I guess the same call about us having one, and the Sullivan County Health Department would not allow the game to be played." (2/2)

Also, Cagle noted that McMinn did not practice Wednesday, and the player who tested positive did not practice with the team Thursday.

Also, from TSSAA executive director Bernard Childress: "A decision will not be made until we get all the facts. The schools will submit their side on Monday." "Anything is possible but playing the game next week is highly unlikely."

These quotes contradict themselves. So the coach says the positive is not apart of the team, then later on the coach goes on to say the player who tested positive did not practice with the team Thursday. So which one is it?

The positive was a player. The coach's point was that the player did not travel with the team to DB.

It's the phone call the coach got on his way to the game that puzzles me. Everybody says they knew the player in question tested positive Tuesday. But the coach gets a phone call while on his way to Kingsport Friday about a player testing positive. Why would he get this call about something everybody knew three days before?  I want to hear from the person who made that phone call.

Contract tracing goes back to when the kid was tested, according to coach Cagle, they never did any contact tracing connected to the kid that tested positive. Read his statement again and you will see what I am saying. Apparently the kid had no contact after he tested but you have to trace based on when he was tested not when he got results.

Guys it really doesn’t matter because WE all know how this thing is going to play out. The TSSAA will award the win to DB and life marches on.
I don’t agree with it as I believe they should play the game but that isn’t going to happen. DB gets the nod because McMinn is the small rural school with not much post season history and DB is the big boy on the block with the history and legacy.
Stop the guessing and come to grip with the fact DB advances. I don’t like it but that’s what is going to happen and everyone on both sides knows it. Matter of fact everyone in the state of Tennessee knows what’s going to happen.

LOL!   So you're setting the stage for a pity party in McMinnville. Lets just remember it was McMinn with the Covid problem. Be it valid or not it happened on their end. This is between McMinn, the health dept's. and the TSSAA. DB had no say in this from everything I can see. There's no reason to blame DB for any of this. If there's going to be a forfeit it has to be McMinn. Although if they were clean I don't agree with forcing them to forfeit either. The power's that be should of got off their backsides and made a decision today instead of waiting until Monday when it will be to late to play the game. Idiots.

Could be he was hoping the health department didn’t catch up with them till after the game had been played?

Not blaming DB at all. From what I know to be true DB was professional thru the entire process. Also DB wanted to play but as you know the SCHD shut the game down.
I just see the TSSAA siding with DB and allowing them to advance. Some things are just a given.
