LOL!   So you're setting the stage for a pity party in McMinnville. Lets just remember it was McMinn with the Covid problem. Be it valid or not it happened on their end. This is between McMinn, the health dept's. and the TSSAA. DB had no say in this from everything I can see. There's no reason to blame DB for any of this. If there's going to be a forfeit it has to be McMinn. Although if they were clean I don't agree with forcing them to forfeit either. The power's that be should of got off their backsides and made a decision today instead of waiting until Monday when it will be to late to play the game. Idiots.

No pity party in McMinnville it’s 100 miles from McMinn County and we don’t care who Maryville beats by 40 next week

McMinnville is about as close to McMinn County as Blountville is to Blount County.

This appears to be a timing issue of tests taken and results known that basically gave hours for a team to respond with contact tracing information while the team was already on their way to play the game.     Unless you take a rapid test, it takes days for the results to be known.  So test on Tuesday implies results later in the week.  It sounds like all this evolved on Friday.

If McMinn followed protocol and this merely requires allowing the paperwork to catch up, this game should have been just postponed to let that happen.

McMinn County High School is in Athens.

The issue isn't DB.  It was a complete overreaction from the Sullivan County Department of Health.  DB wanted to play the game.

That said, from where I sit the only legitimate ruling will either to play the game. And if that's not going to happen the second option is to declare a no contest and a bye for Maryville this week.

That would suck out loud, obviously, but neither team should be awarded a forfeit.

....  I don’t agree with it as I believe they should play the game but that isn’t going to happen. DB gets the nod because McMinn is the small rural school with not much post season history and DB is the big boy on the block with the history and legacy.   .....

What the ?!?!?        DB has been mocked for decades in the Tri-cities for running the table in the season and then choking in the playoffs with an early exit.         There may be something crooked going on inside the TSSAA, that can be debated all day long, but if they give the win to DB it has nothing to do with playoff legacy.      My best guess is that a screwup happened somewhere on Friday night and the ruling will be that neither team advances, TSSAA is way more concerned with damage control than doing what's right

If I understand correctly:

1) a player carrying the virus was tested on Tuesday

2) he was away from the other players on Wed/Thursday

3) he took a rapid test Thursday or Friday which supposedly was negative so he went to the game Friday night with his parents

4)  the Tues test came back positive on the way to Kingsport

5) McMinn coaches/admin did no contact tracing as the kid was home wed/thurs

So...the question appears to be if other students/players he contacted on Mon/Tues should have been quarantined? That seems like an easy question to answer except for the fact the guidance to follow has too many loopholes and used differently by different systems.
To complicate things, I think the original CDC guidance has shifted as the spread has gotten worse which explains these recent college game impacts. I think the mackmen coaches did what most other coaches have done all year and has allowed the season to be played.
But they got called out by a public health agency for not being as protective “as they should”. Tough position for t$$aa, but an easy call IMO.

Basically !

McMinn coach confirmed Saturday that he got a message about a positive player on the way to Kingsport . Thought it would be alright "player was not with team " , but did not do any contact tracing !  This was basically what he was quoted saying Saturday !

So basically entering DB stadium he knew of a +test , but no contact tracing was done .....  Wrong on so many levels !
