Coach Gaddis catches some grief but man oh man how many times has Oak ridge went from looking like a .500 team to having a chance to win it all the last few years  ... gotta give the coach some props , playing their best Ball when it counts ! Good luck Wildcats !

No question about it. We just beat a team that's clearly better than OR (I mean on paper)  and coaching has to figure in there somehow.

Sounds like I'm one of the few pulling for the Cherokees. Would love to see Duncan play for a state title. It's been 29 years since his only other appearance, and it would be SD's first ever!

That said, I think OR wins a close one. They've been my sleeper team all season long.

Osunut2, I'm also leaning towards SD. My son played for Clark his last 2 years at Powell, then Larry Stephens for 2 yrs. You can tell in his interviews with Packman that he deeply wants this team to go all the way. I think they are more physical than OR, but OR may have a little more speed

I was at Powell in the late 90s, Dawg. My younger sister was good friend's with Clark's daughter, and they were a good family to be around. I had always hoped that Clark could get that elusive gold ball while I was there, but he just never could recapture what he had on those Powell teams in the early-mid 90s. By the time Josh and Jon Jon Lewis graduated, we were absolutely depleted at the skill positions. It also didn't help that Clark was losing a staggering number of kids to Joel Helton by then, plus the Maryville machine got going at the exact same time.

I don't think there's a coach around east TN who would appreciate the chance to play in Cookeville quite like Clark, especially with all of the close playoff losses he's had to endure over the past 30 years.

    • Good ole Bradley Zulliger. He was a really good QB @ OR. Fun to watch.  Wore #15 and was like a mini Tebow, with the exception of being right handed. He could take a pounding and keep on ticking. Played with a collapsed lung against Powell that year. Tough as nails.
    • They should be pretty good in year two for Rang.  Replacing most of the offensive production losing Dozier, Hayward and Rembert , but they're are skill kids in place ready for their shot.  I know I say this every year, but the o line should show improvement after two years in Rang and Kevin Day's weight program.  I still would favor West over Plow and OR come November.  The Rebs will have to grow up a bunch between now and then, and will probably take some lumps along the way with that schedule.  But I predict come playoff time they will be ready.   One of their coaches half joked to me that they could go 5-5 regular season and win the state championship.  Ha ha.
    • there will be a couple of teams, that could make some noise
    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
