You are happy with coming in 2nd two years in a row?  I’m not.  I’m proud, but hardly content.  Any successful organization (military, Fortune 500 company, sports team) looks back over a previous performance and studies what went right, what went wrong, and what was in our control and what was not.  This reflection must be conducted honestly and apolitically.  Check egos at the door.... Fail to do that and people die, companies fail, and someone else wins the championship (respectively).

It was said to me recently that if your season ends in Cookeville, you had a great year.  My response was “Yes, unless you lost there when you could have won. “

In 2019, we should have won.  For 2020, we could have won.

I didn’t say that.  But to imply there are issues with the coaching is stretching it.  Look around and you will know what I mean.

I've reached out some to see who was gonna tote the rock, seems there are alot of candidates for the role. More than I figured their would have been.

Got a buddy that follows Meigs closely.  From what he says Meigs will distribute the carries this year.  Of course Carroll getting 15 or so a game then  have Caywood. Ben Smith. Pendergrass and kasko.  All 4 very capable and experienced backs.More physical and punishing type backs.

All of those and maybe Justin Keys will also have some carries. My thoughts are Caywood would be better utilized as a reciever. He has ability, and speed but lacks size to be utilized as a back against good teams. Huckabey and Caywood are some of the best wide receivers to come through Meigs in a long time. Huckabey is the best wide reciever I've seen play in person the last 7 years with the exception of Holden Willis. And I do believe the two are at the very leastcomparable. If we utilize those recievers enough we should easily spread out some defenses this year making it easier for our run game.

Yes. From what I could tell Huckabey is a very good WR.  One of the Best I’ve heard.  Also the fact Meigs has a good Qb that can get him the ball makes this a weapon that a lot of Single A and double A teams don’t have.

Marion talking big down this way. Implying they will mop the floor with Meigs. Will be interesting to see how that goes down.

I’m hoping my bunch can put up a good fight this year. But with a lame duck coach and average talent I don’t have high hopes. Concerns about players transferring here and there also.

We're all a little worried about Meigs for sure but if they're going to mop the floor with themselves we might as well not even show up.

You better be glad that game didn't happen. From the looks of the title game it would have been another loss for your boys.

    • Dyersburg may win back to back to back championships. They are going to be hands down the best 3A team. Plus their District/region/sectionals are not very good. They basically just have to make it to region out of a 5 team district that has a few decent teams. South Gibson will be okay but they graduate their best player and there is nobody in the region 7 or region 8 who is going to compete with them.
    • I remember very well watching things change in the late 80's and yes it's all schools. Most people that are in charge today have any idea because they were raised and taught under this social experiment so they don't have a clue. Anyone that does see the truth for what it is usually try and hide it by blending in so that the School Gestapo doesn't round them up and take them to the Fuhrer ( kindly putting it ). Yes it is all schools not just Maryville. This train ride is not headed in a good direction and if the public had seen a movie of what's happening now back in 1980 everyone would have been headed home afterwards to change underware.
    • Hoping to make the playoffs.
    • You are so correct!  It’s really 99.9% of academia want to change to way that education is not only taught but the way it is viewed.  The pendulum has definitely swung as far to the left as possible and eventually will swing to the right much too far.  I have always  said that politics and one’s personal religious views need to stay out of education,  but for the last 40 years education has been running full throttle to what we have today.  If the social experiment that we are currently experiencing continues it is only a matter of time before the public school system in the USA completely collapses and all kids attend private schools or even worse don’t go to school.
