Sorry. I obviously misread your post. Covington is still 3A, but South Gibson is 4A.

Don't remember ever seeing a thread or discussion on the topic here and what better is there to talk about during the off season. Any "out of the box" fundraiser ideas that have been successful other than the run of the mill things? Programs that help the kids better their lives after football? Seems like it could be a fun discussion that will maybe lead to ideas that could help make your respective kids and coaches lives better during and after football. Loudon High School booster club does an exceptional job taking care of all our athletic teams!! Great job guys!! You are very appreciated!!!!! GO REDSKINS!!! sheppy
Asking a very serious question...Are most Booster Clubs classified as School Support Organization's (SSO) meaning they have to follow state SSO guidelines or do they not classify as SSO therefore they can continue to support high school sports and not be restricted by state guidelines? In both cases they must be a non-profit organization file with the state. Edited February 23, 2021 by sheppy

In both cases they must be a non-profit organization file with the state. There are basically two types of clubs. In one, school employees manage the finances completely, and in the other, typically parents organize and elect a "board" of overseer's. Both systems can work... there are pro's and con's to either, such as differences in whether students are allowed to handle money during fundraisers, who has the final authority of expenditures, and restrictions pertaining to what can (or can't) be funded. Effort and accountability are usually the deciding factors more than the type of booster club in defining "successful". One of the best (in my opinion) is a "football moms" club... works in conjunction with the booster club, but is separately run while still being chartered with the boosters. Usual focus' of the moms are providing goods to be sold, organizing events, and gives those who are uninterested in the usual duties and dialogue pertaining to football an outlet and opportunity to be helpful and connected. One thing that really helped West Carroll, we got in contact with Alumni Football USA and set up some Alumni Games. It takes some work to generate the buzz but after three games in two years it helped raise over $50k for our booster club.
