My good friend and yours EG is requiring written reports on both. I suspect one will really be good and the other rebuilding. Due to a family event out of town I will not be at the MJ game but will be there for Blackman. Will talk to an assistant coach late this Friday night and get his take. MJ is charging admission so Commando fans be sure to take your money. We have 2 starters dinged up that won’t play against MJ but should play against Blackman.

I know most folks are writing Blackman off as a team that is rebuilding and will struggle most of the year. I believe that there are some solid position coaches and the team will be very well conditioned. For sure better than they have been in years past. They will be playing very fast up tempo and taking more shots down the field than ever before. This will not be 70 run plays and 10 passing plays that we have fielded in the past 5 years. I think there will be a few folks surprised. Anxious to see what this all brings.

Does he do it exactly like Pulaski Academy? If so, you will only punt about once every 2.25 years. It should be interesting to watch.

Not exactly. But he does do some odd formations and uses analytics that determine down distance and probabilities . He may go for it 50% or more . Depending on how good the kicker is they may punt. Its pretty sharp way of doing it, if the players execute properly. Kinda like playing the odds in Vegas

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
