Huntingdon @ Westview

For Huntingdon to win this one they need to have long sustained drives and take the ball out of simpsons hands.  Don’t care how good their defensive backs are, you won’t stop their passing game.  You just have to hope that balls get tipped, their receivers make a mistake or Simpson loses a few (unlikely). Putting pressure on Simpson isn’t the answer either, he’s probably more dangerous in that regard

Yes if you collapse the pocket without outside contain he will go for a 50 yard scamper !

You're on it. Hard to see a path here for Huntingdon for me but I know they're a very good team. I think they'll be able to extend drives better than us (Fairview) but I do wonder what happens after that? We're a pretty formidable team. Not the best team we ever had by any means but formidable. Strong up front. Solid defense, etc. Yet, I felt like we were getting toyed with down the stretch. Westview is very good. If they don't win it all I'll be surprised.

Nevertheless  good luck to both programs on good execution and staying injury free.

Getting into a shootout with Westview is what you don’t want happening. Our defense dosent allow those games anymore. Shut down the pass they can run and they did exactly that against union city

Sounds like Ty is already playing with Alabama. We will go ahead and play the game and see how it turns out.

He may not have to

I wonder will  huntingdon line up in the dime or quarter defense to have more speed and dbs on the field to match WV offense? Maybe the quarter with 3 safeties and 4 corners to try to limit big plays some teams disguise coverages in their packages but seeing 7 DBs on the field you will know the defense is expecting pass. I feel like they may line up in the nickel or a 4-3. I haven’t seen the mustangs play this year so I’m just guessing I don’t know if they play zone or man 4-3 or a 4-4 formation and have 3 dbs in the 4-4. I heard they were good up front though. Are they better than Trenton up front?

    • Never said I thought it was a smart decision. I'm scratching my head at it too.
    • If he wanted to play QB he should have either went to Heritage or William Blount and had a real good chance there. In stead he'll be exactly what he was going to be at Maryville. They already know who their QB is going to be in 2025 and it ain't going to be him.
    • Easier said than done. The man who ran for 250+ yards and 3TDs is gonna be back….and a lot bigger.
    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
