Class 1A favorites

1A favorites? I know MAHS, Clay Co, Picket Co, and East Robertson are early favorites. Any others?

Gordonsville should be one to watch as well. They have a tough district with Clay and Pickett but I think they will surprise some folks.

Clay Co returns everyone from their team last year but 1 person, Pickett has the twins that are commited to UAH so they’ll be a tough out. East has Groves coming back who’s a 1000 point scorer and hasn’t played since his sophomore year and some other starters. Gville had a solid team last year, who are they returning?

It wouldn't surprise me at all to see two teams  from District 1...North Greene and Hampton make the state tournament this year.

Middleton from the West is the unanimous favorite. Some very solid players returning. Peabody should be a factor as well once football is done. West Carroll should be a tough out as well. Humboldt will be young, but should improve as the year goes on. Anxious to see what JCM has.

Don’t go to sleep on Harriman this way.. They have one of the top Sophomores in the state & he will be a force to be reckoned with in Class A for the next 3 years

I’m familiar with West Carrol having the Anglin kid, he can play. I know they lost some guards so I wasn’t sure how they would be

They have 3 transfers and a Senior player who did not play last year who will be playing this year. So they have a whole new squad of starters and depth. Returning 2 post players who will be key players. May struggle until the football players are back in the rotation.

Gordonsville, ER, Pickett Co, and Clay Co all have preseason praise. Excited to see how that region tournament plays out

Besides the Amonett  twins Pickett Co.  has another great player in senior Hunter Wattenbarger and his brother, sophomore Heath is very good. Then the twins younger brother is on the team and is another excellent player. They are stronger than last year. Clay losing Silk will hurt them, but they have to be the favorite.

Clay County has the best player in the entire state in Class A and one of the best in all classifications in the returning Mr Basketball/Player of the Year Grant Strong. They have a great returning squad but they are not the favorites. Whatever teams come out of Memphis are the favorites and always will be. Heck they had kids playing in the state tournament that didn’t even play on the district tournament team!  How can anyone compete with that kind of cheating? And it IS cheating don’t care what anyone says. Now since most all of the kids in the democratic run city of Memphis were made to sit out an entire season they can all move freely to whichever school they choose to. Look for a lot of 19+ year olds playing in Memphis this year. T$$AA won’t say a word either they are too scared.

With the pandemic going on worldwide, you are still full of negativity energy when it come from any kid out of Memphis.  With all due respect, you really have a lot of venomous hate toward Memphis kids.  You have a book load of allegations without a single shred of proof.  19+ year old kids??? Are you serious?  Fake News
