They can beat Pickett? East Robertson lost to Gordonsville. Pickett Co beat Gordonsville by 27 and 30.

Actually the first time Gordy played PC it was about a 4 point game until the last 5 minutes. The second time Gordy played PC two starters were in foul trouble in the first quarter at PC (Imagine that) and both ended up fouling out early after sitting whole second quarter. lol

I have seen both ER and PC play several times and I think it should be a great game but PC should win.

Middleton and Trenton will be hard to beat.  Along with MASE & MAHS.  These  substate games should be great.  2 of the best 4 teams in the state won’t make it to the glasshouse

Middleton and the Memphis teams are always quality teams no disagreement there.  Memphis teams always have to considered a favorite. Clay County and Pickett County should be at the dance once again as well. Clay has the BEST individual player in Class A in Strong. He will win Mr Basketball for the 2nd year in a row.  Clay has been struggling offensively as of late though so they will need to get it together to win back to back state championships. East Robertson is a good team and somehow they are hosting the region tournament so that’s a big deal!  You would never see the district 7 coaches agreeing to have Clay or Pickett host the region tournament.  Should be a great month coming up for high school bball!

Actually that isn't correct about the first game. Pickett was ahead by just 2 at the half, but was up by 5 three minutes into the 3rd quarter. With about 2:30 to go in the 3rd quarter it was 53-45. At the end of the 3rd quarter it was 56-45. In the 1st minute of the 4th quarter it was 61-47. With about 5:30 to go it was 65-50. They won 81-54. I can give you a point by point report of the game.

They won the 2nd game Pickett Co. won 75-45. Pickett Co. has Mr. Basketball candidate Zach Amonett.  ER doesn't have one.

If ER plays PC and beats them, I will be the first to congratulate them.

Yes, they can beat picket if they play Pickett at ER. ER played Gordy 1st game of the season and it was our worst game. They can beat Pickett.

I'm not sure why people think they can't be beat if they already won earlier. To me this just puts a target on your back to get beat. Anybody can beat anyone on any given night.

Agreed. When Watertown was in Clay and Pickett's region they hosted every other year. It was overlooked then because they where not good and not sure they made regions much but later they got good and still hosted. I brought up why is Watertown  hosting at a game down there once but that conversation didn't go far...ha.

Pickett County is playing some good ball as of late so it won’t surprise me to see them beat Clay in the district championship game.  Strange things seem to happen this time of year. On the flip side I’m betting Coach Edwards has had some pretty tough practices after the JC loss. One thing his teams have always done is play hard and they have traditionally excelled on the defensive side of the ball. I’d look for a return to form in that category for the reigning state champions come tournament time.

I mean if you want to be technical, you guys lost to Clay twice, Jackson just beat Clay, TC beat Jackson, ER beat TC twice. It's matchups man. ER is extremely athletic, if they hit 3's they will be tough. If I were to rank the region it would be:

1) CLAY

2A) Pickett     2B)ER

4)Gville

5) TC

Gvill, TC, and Jo Byrns are all around the same

it swaps each year from district to district. There is also a certain requirement by TSSAA on capacity, TC was suppose to host region this year and would have been a much more centralized location but TC does not meet requirements. I would assume next year will be played possibly at Livingston or in that area.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
