I understand I was just making a comment that a lot can relate too and to just let him know there are players like that every year throughout the state. Good to see younger posters on here that actually talk football.

Reckon I've seen um all and it goes back a lot farther in history. Best player overall was probably Patrick Willis.

Kid was a man amongst boys, If he had not got injured, they very well could have won the state.

Yeah your probably right. All these names being mentioned were great players. I think first they were great athletes, but I think the biggest thing is they just saw the game differently than most. Talk about chess and checkers!

Brother coached at Cloudland for many years, I got to see a lot of talented kids, Fleeming from BGA, Davis and Owens from Ezell, hard to deal with these teams with far superior talent.

Are there some Dresden boys pulling for Westview? That's about like a Huntingdon guy pulling for Mckenzie!

I'm pulling for Westview to win. My son who played against them a few years back hopes they never win a game. He also wanted Trenton & McKenzie to both lose last Friday. lol I guess if I was a Dresden grad and played football I would be the same. I hated Dresden when I was in school so I'm not really sure why I cheer for them now that my kids are grown. Guess it's because of friends and coaching staff.

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
