I figured I would start a thread for all things 2022 Henry County Patriots. This is the upcoming season that most all Patriot fans have circled as the one that we can win it all. Lots of great talent will be suiting back up for the Big Red. Very nice talent coming up from Grove as well! Love to hear everyone's thoughts on this group.

Talented upcoming senior class that I'm sure is eager to go out with a bang after losing in the semifinals the last two years. The QB should be one of 5A's best, and he has a host of returning weapons. Losing Townsend at RB stinks, but Morgan Barrick returning helps big time and there is plenty of talent in the underclasses to ease the load. The star left tackle is coming back and much of the defense returns intact.

Nothing is ever given in 5A, but HC should be on a pretty exclusive list of top contenders. We'll see how it all comes together.

Damron-QB

 Brown-LT

And this team has the potential to be really good. They do have a ton of weapons and talent coming back, and I hope to see them use it.

I have heard that you guys have a quarterback that had it been anyone else but that one specific kid at QB at Westview, he would have not only garnered the starting spot but also attention.

I feel playing in a larger level football program will actually help him more. So not looking forward to the playoffs this year if we meet.

The kid is going into his 4th straight year as the starting quarterback for HCHS, and I wish people (both here and everywhere else) would focus on that instead of where he lived 4 years ago and what county is on his birth certificate.

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
