Good to see Gleason back in the 1A conversations again.  Hey Bradford…your turn.

Bradford is pretty good this year. You talking about a district that will be some battles. You got Greenfield, Gleason, Bradford and Dresden in the same district. Shock of the weekend for me was Gleason beating Clay County as bad as they did. Were you there??

That is going to be fun to see who makes it out.

I was not at at the game.  IMO the 1A teams in the UC are down just a little bit this year.  They are all pretty close with Clarkrange being the best I have seen so far.   But even they lost to a bad Stone team and were spanked by White county recently.  Clay has a very solid team.  But to me Pickett County has the most upside.  They are so young and are going to be so much better by the year end.  Lowe is going to be a superstar there.  Future Miss Basketball. Biggest surprise in 7A so far has to be the 11-3  RBS Lady Dawgs.  They played Clay very close a couple weeks ago. And this week they beat Riverdale and played a good Hillsboro team close.  It’s going to be fun watching this district to see who escapes into the glass house

Yeah McKenzie and Gleason are good around here. Gleason is doing good but they are not as as good as McKenzie, IMO. Greenfield is still a dangerous team as well. I am really impressed with Clarkrange and Pickett County this year especially after what they lost. I thought it was Clay County’s to lose but is RBS still in their district and class as well?? That district looks up for grabs as well. Clay County at state last year had a bunch of good ball players. I thought they might be the team because Clarkrange and Pickett County lost several players, but got to give credit to Clarkrange and Pickett County’s teams with new players. They are playing really good. You take a good young team and get hot they may win it all. Seen Elizabethton do it at state with a bunch of young one’s a few years back that weren’t bothered by the big stage.

I don't want to jinx anything.  And i've been very casual on my predictions for that reason.  But, I agree.  I've seen live play or multiple videos of all the contenders in AA but Westview.  Based on what I've seen, Loretto is just playing a different game at this moment.  Karly is the X factor (everyone knows she does it all), Ally is a GREAT passer, good rebounder, can drive to the basket, forces turnovers, clifton's can both score in transition and at the perimeter, both force a lot of turnovers, Buttrum shoots well and plays tough, Laney can post, drives well, shoots well, Cozart has also stepped up this year..  There have been more contributors, but these girls are playing together in a way I've never seen at Loretto.

Karly and Ally can both jump unlike 95% of girls in TN H.S. basketball.  So the turnovers, blocked shots, tipped passes, have been in abundance this year.

I've seen Gibson Co, Upperman, Cookeville, White Co, Bradley, Bearden, and Webb School, and more..

I've seen a LOT of teams that could beat Loretto on a given night, but Webb School is the only one one I've seen that I would say probably has a better team overall.

Meant to share this weeks ago.  Check out the vision/anticipation from Ally. Karly to Ally to Buttrum.  This is a big part of why this team is special.  Super efficient.

Crockett beats TCA

Hats off to CC for playing a tough hard nosed game.  They have a great young team and Kayla is a fantastic coach.  Covid got TCA and one of their best players was out.  TCA still should have won the game but Crockett had other plans and played super well.  I would look for CC to be a serious contender in their class in the next two years.  Kayla always has her girls playing hard!

This is Crockett’s year to make state. Stay opposite of Fayette Ware in sub-state and probably will happen.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
