That is going to be fun to see who makes it out.

I was not at at the game.  IMO the 1A teams in the UC are down just a little bit this year.  They are all pretty close with Clarkrange being the best I have seen so far.   But even they lost to a bad Stone team and were spanked by White county recently.  Clay has a very solid team.  But to me Pickett County has the most upside.  They are so young and are going to be so much better by the year end.  Lowe is going to be a superstar there.  Future Miss Basketball. Biggest surprise in 7A so far has to be the 11-3  RBS Lady Dawgs.  They played Clay very close a couple weeks ago. And this week they beat Riverdale and played a good Hillsboro team close.  It’s going to be fun watching this district to see who escapes into the glass house

I didn’t see Red Boiling Springs winning @ Clarkrange but they are off to a great year.   Happy for that program. The teams in this district are all really close.  Let’s see who gets hot down the stretch.  Hats off to Clarkrange for almost pulling an unbelievable comeback.  Down 50-35 late in the fourth to take a lead twice on final minutes.

I am sorry. Westmoreland is there at 5 with the others. Left 1 out. Westmoreland is solid. Too many good teams in AA.

Very week district, so Coach Perry scheduled some tough teams outside of that. I think it will benefit the girls come post season play!

So looks like you guys are in the Region with York and possible substate opponents at least one of them possibly could be East Nashville?? That the way you see it??

Looks like according to schedules the tougher opponent is East Nashville. So your probably looking at 2 of York, Westmoreland or East Nashville at state. We ran into Westmoreland this summer. Know they are pretty good and York is too from what I hear.

Another big win for Pickett County tonight at RBS 50-27. Pickett County having a good year as well.

Very young team that keeps getting better. If Coach Smith isn’t COY then they should throw that award away.  If Emmy Lowe isn’t in consideration for POY, then throw it away too. 1 senior, 2 sophomores, and 2 freshman starting, with a freshman as the 6th. Heck of a job Pickett!

Well you kinda figured somebody in that area would be a suprise team full of good young players and be in the Gold Ball conversation and Pickett County is definitely in the mix. Amazing some times when a team loses four or five seniors and they end up being really good because they hit the ground running and make the most of their opportunities. Love to see a good young team play and win and have no fear.

They’ll improve next year (by seasons end). The Wood girl will graduate (and be sorely missed), but the upcoming 8th grade class has a few GOOD players coming that should keep them in the mix for a few years.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
