They were the better team.  They won. If SS had won you would have said they were the better team and I would have agreed. But they didn’t Greeneville did.

1a Middleton 2a East Nashville 3a Greeneville (defending Champs and arguably  had the toughest schedule in 3a) 4a Bartlett

1A Clay County until someone beats them they are the best team in Class A and the defending Champions. On top of that they have the best player in Class A in the reigning Mr Basketball Grant Strong.

I think the loss from SS helps them at the state tournament.. If NS wins substate game they will play greeneville 1st round of state. Where SS wouldn’t play Greeneville till championship game.

I do believe it helped both of us out! Get it out our system & have your best 4 games!

Definitely surprised that Middleton lost at home. So now in 1A I have Clay Co with Peabody my second choice. 

2A East Nashville; another surprise is that Douglass lost at home; and again, Bolivar is sneaky good.

3A (I think is the toughest class)  Jackson Southside (my favorite) or Greeneville

4A Bartlett

      RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.

      I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"

      Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
