Other side of the bracket will be an absolute dog fight. Coalfield is ranked #4 and the #3 team is eliminated. So not sure how in the world you would consider them to be #6 at best. Average over 9 runs a game with a deep pitching staff. Also 27 wins is second most in A it appears.
ecu
Eagleville definitely the favorite.
RodgerDodger32
Absolutely no reason eagleville should be playing at home. How is that fair at all? I know they have no control over it but we always played at the bigger school’s fields when we went.

Be careful...last time there was this much talk about how "easy" the #1 ranked team's side of the bracket was, one of the cupcakes won the whole thing without a loss including beating the 1'st ranked and highly favored team twice, then the defending champs. It's got to suck making it all the way to state just to have to drive 5 hours to play at a 1A baseball field half an hour from the "host" city. Although not as bad as the time we drove 10 hours to Memphis just to play our games at Bolton. That place seemed like it was nearly an hour away from our hotel, and boy was it a freaking dump. bd4vols
I sure hope Eagleville added a batters eye at their field. It was tough to see the ball in the past there.

Well I wasn't gonna go down that road, but you opened the gate... Whichever rankings you're quoting are useless. 9 out of 10 people outside of Morgan County would not rate Coalfield above Gordonsville, Peabody, Eagleville, UH, or McKenzie. I'm no mathematician, but that ranks them 6th by my calculations. And don't even start that 27 wins stuff, Coalfield played a mediocre schedule and half their schedule is played against a weak district. Historically, any team from that district who has even average talent wins 20+ a season by default just from the number of bad teams they get to play at least twice a year. Now don't get me wrong, this 2022 Coalfield team is better than most of the other teams that have come out of that district in the past. They're a fine little team. But now they're in a grid full of finer teams. They'll almost certainly make it to the semifinals, by merit of beating two teams in their bracket with loosing records. They'll get mauled by Eagleville both times. Nothing to be ashamed of though, they've been doing that to lots of folks this season.
Southtowner
I'll take Eagleville @ home. The other bracket seems to be just a bit deeper. Not sure who I'd take there. Anyways, is this the place to eat? Coach T All American Grill ? Edited May 23, 2022 by Southtowner

They'll probably be too worn out to give Eagleville much of a fight. I wouldn't be shocked if Eagleville comes out of their bracket only playing 15 innings of ball. Going by scores and how many runs they’ve scored they sure seem legit to me. I’ve also heard they are young and could easily be the A favorite in 2023.

Not really directed at you, but is there any justification from the TSSAA for not moving Eaglesville’s games to Rockvale? It seems crazy to force 3 teams to beat someone on their home field during the “neutral site” state championships, when you already have another site available. They could have just flipped the brackets to avoid complete home field advantage.
