I can tell you when I was coaching and we went to state all the coaches went into a room then they used balls with numbers assigned to them. They put them in a spinning barrel and whatever ball/number  came out that’s who went in the slot. We hoped we could avoid Memphis Manassass that year with Reginald Buckner but no we drew them 1st round.

They changed it 2021 state after Covid year. That was their reasoning. They couldn’t draw them before Region but they can now.

Just the impression of something underhanded or shady when things done behind closed doors - don’t want to inconvenience those in high place might take away from their golf time

Teams could do shady stuff if they drew before Region Finals as well. Never know what happens.

Westview will get Simpson back from ACL as well as Evans (sophomore post player out with ACL) to add inside play. They have a freshman guard that scored 38 and 35 points in the TMSAA state tournament this year and was voted best player in district that’s pretty dang good. They also have a 8th grade post player that has the potential to be dominant. Still have Alexander and Sims returning as well as Trevathan. I think they will still be pretty competitive!

What school did she play for?

Buckner was a beast! We went to Manassas that year for substate and got hammered.

    • You wanna talk about zoned for Bearden.  Lol.  I don't think so.  But my point was who can blame a kid for not wanting to be in a private school.  Nobody is zoned for a private school, it's a free country right?
    • Great win for the Pirates. State Tourney bound !
    • You're talking about the running back, right? I don’t believe he was zoned for west, but there were numerous players that came from TKA a few years ago and still are. I’m sure some are, but the majority aren’t.
    • Gratitude abounds for Blake Satterfield, whose five-year tenure as the head coach and exemplary ambassador for Trousdale County and its educational system has left an indelible mark. His strategic leadership during playoff seasons was nothing short of remarkable. Anticipating that his future endeavors will be equally impressive.  Perhaps the board members will refrain from undermining the incoming coach as they did in Blake's case.
    • Yeah that's true, I was talking more about football.  If you go to a TKA game, there's nobody there.  The only people there are the parents of cheer and parents of players.    The kid that left and came to West was zoned for West and decided to quit private and go public school.  He won two state championships at West, so hard to blame him there.
