14 Years since our last All American

Our 4 qualifiers this year went a combined 1-8.

UTC wrestling at least used to win the SoCon more than any other team. We haven't won a title there in 7 years.

Are we the joke of NCAA wrestling?

If you are going to bash an entire program at least get your facts correct.  It has not been 22 years since the last AA.

The topic itself bears a bigger discussion than I can give time to now but I would not say that they are the joke of NCAA wrestling.  I believe there are some other programs doing worse... that said I am sure that the coaching staff has expectations and a plan to improve.  I think the standard that UTC should be targeting from a support, recruiting, and developing is winning the SoCon but gaps to close there for sure.

My man John Mark Bentley with a All American. Back to Back for Millner. 3 kids from NC won there 1st round match for App St. I’m hoping JM will get more involved in recruiting TN. What kills these small schools is the number of scholarships they get to divide up.

By no one answering the question with regards to the University of Tennessee @ Chattanooga wrestling program having the full allotment of 9.9 wrestling scholarships I am going to assume that the program is not close to being fully funded.

I don’t believe App St is fully funded which makes it hard on the smaller programs.

I think UTC is headed in the right direction.  It's difficult to compete with the bigger programs on so many levels, but if St. Peters can do it in Basketball, UTC can do it in wrestling.  I'm sure the mindset of the coaches is to perform, evaluate, refine, perform, evaluate, refine over and over until they put out a program that everyone on Coach T can be proud of.

    • The golf preseason came to a close Friday at Indian Hills as the I-24 Invitational hosted by Rockvale was contested. Webb School won the title by 13 shots 295-308 over Rockvale. Rockvale girls won the title by five shots over Providence  Christian 155-`160 after the Lions won the 1913 Invitational at Johnson City by 10 shots over Greeneville. The course was wet and muddy in the morning but the rain finally broke and some good scores were had. The Webb School boys had Phet Phothong score a 69 while Carter  Burks shot 70 following up his 72 in Johnson City on Monday. The girls had Solia Mechling of Rockvale lead the way with a 73 in taking the title as they improved their score by 30 shots over Monday in East Tennessee as they found the homestead Indian Hills to their liking.  Rockvale and Central Magnet will head to the Battle of Hermitage on Wednesday July 31st. On Tuesday Stewarts Creek and Smyrna will do battle at Smyrna Golf Course  with an early tee time of 11 AM. The next day Oakland, Webb and Nolensville will tee off at Champions Run beginning at 9 AM. Eagleville will open on July 29th heading to Lawrenceburg and the Country Club awaiting host Lawrence County and several other teams to tee up the regular season. The season will end in October at Sevierville when state champions will be crowned.
