Eagleton

Eagleton can be a good high school team if they can keep the boys that would have normally went to Alcoa in the past. For a 1A or 2A school they will have the tools to compete. For a school only playing some JV games this year I was very impressed with the number I seen out there.

Will be going to watch Eagleton jv play Mcminn central. I think Eagleton will fare better than the other two county schools. Unfortunately I feel like they'll be region 1 In 1a and maybe region 2 in 2a

It seems that The Daily Times in Blount County didn't mention hide nor hair about the new Eagleton team even though they are going to be playing a JV schedule this year in the yearly football section they put out. They took the time to run up to Seymour to cover TKA which no one in Blount County would give a hoot about but not a mention a thing about the new program coming up under their nose. The newspapers haven't been worth nothing here the past few years other than cleaning windows or lining a bird cage.

I've gone my whole live thinking Greenback was in Blount County :roflol:

I always thought the Little Tennessee was the boundary between Blount and Loudon Counties. Silly me.

The area used to be in Blount County. I think this was before Greenback was a train stop and we still called it Morganton. The Greenback zip code (37742) is in Loudon and Blount.

The rabbit hole gets deeper...

But really. I stand by what I said. If they're AA, they'd almost by default have to come to Region 1, right?

You learn to live without them. Jackson Sun used to have an entire section that began well before season and spotlighted most teams within a 40 mile radius leading up to week zero, then covered weekly scores and highlighted top matchups throughout the season and playoffs. Now 5-6 game scores in season and not much else...worthless.

If they are 2A they will more likely go to Region 1 because there only 4 teams currently

    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
    • What is the hold up here? I have not heard anything in weeks. Are they waiting for the right person or is something else going on?
    • Per usual, we'll be hard to beat in the regular season, I'm sure. It's the post season that I'm more worried about, specifically the coaches. Maybe they'll be able to make some adjustments that will keep the momentum in our favor. How's Grays recovery coming along?
    • Something don’t add up here a college coach is not going to turn away a good player they need just because they didn’t get along with their high school coach
    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
