I agree.  McKenzie/Dresden will be the marque game of the week in West Tennessee that week.  I would not be suprised if it is not nominated for the Titans Game Of The Week.

This years City team is way more disciplined than a year go the talent has been there for a while and they are senior led now. Biggest difference out side of being humbled last year and lack of discipline is the offense can finally move the ball with a more efficient QB than the kid a year ago..they aren't one dimensional now. Still wont be a walk in the park vs Mckenzie because they have a lot of motivation and returning guys as well that game will be epic. The last team you want to see come to your home field will be this City team.

Several of these 1A teams would beat and give 2A fits. I cant wait to find out just how real Dresden is cause they were a solid team last year seen them play city. We find out in a few short weeks when they get Mckenzie. Just hard to see them having enough in the stable to compete/win in a 4qrt game vs the likes of the Fayetteville's and Mckenzies of the world.

1A is currently loaded with big time prospects at several of these programs. Has a paradigm shift taken place in talent?  I don’t remember this much D1 talent at the 1A level through the years. The west teams all seem to have current D1 kids.

City was actually around *several* years ago and closed, sending all the kids to the county high school even though they'd been in the city school system through elementary and middle schools. Lincoln County's population started growing, the HS got a little too crowded, and there was a push to re-open the City high school, which happened...10 to 12 years ago? something like that.

 

and before anyone says all of Lincoln County's talent went to City, Lincoln County was in a downward spiral long before the split. this group of boys at City is a special group, most have been playing together since peewee league, in the City school system.

their discipline was on full display against Upperman last week

There is one team in northwest Tennessee that will be very dangerous come November. Everyone is sleeping on Lake County. The Falcons are getting better and nobody will want to see them come playoff time. Not saying that Lake County is the best team in 1A in the west but they definitely can give the teams everyone favors all they want.

Wondering how City with a population over 7000 can be in 1A?

Most 1A towns have 2 to 3k at most.

enrollment, a lot of the kids are still going to the County HS. and City will probably move up a classification next year, whenever TSSAA figures out what they're doing

With three schools to choose from, our enrollment numbers are around 340-350 I think.  Doesn't matter the population of Fayetteville itself.
