Others will say 94, 98, 99, 07. Still others will throw in different years. 74, 85, 86. Each one obviously had it's own strengths to make it one of the best but there will be little agreement on just which one is THE 1. I'll just throw out an odd one ... 1924. The first team ever. They went undefeated and set the standard we live by today. https://tssaa.org/article/south-pittsburg-establishes-its-playoff-credentials-in-first-state-playoff I was looking up the history of SP the other night and thought this was a good read . They sure do have the history if the first team ever was unblemished, seems they just continued to hone their skills from ‘24- ‘69. Wonder how many championships they would have had if they had a better ranking system in those other years?

Especially being one with such a great winning tradition and one I see play my Gordonsville Tigers in the playoffs a lot of years. Thanks for the info! Oh, if you like history then wait until @rlh gets on here. I've got a bit of history and so do many others, but it pales in comparison to what he can bring to the table. Fun fact. 2nd time SP & Gordy played was SP's 1980 home coming on Halloween night. Gordy rolled in as the #1 team in the state and rolled out of town with a 36 or 38 - 0 butt whipping. SP lost the last game of the season 7 - 6 and missed the playoffs because only 1 team from each district made the playoffs. There were 3 classes that included the privates.
