Hoping or expecting?

Gary Rankin should be drawing his pension from the State of Tennessee, and he is also drawing a salary from his current private school coaching position.  I would think that he is getting paid over $100,00 per year and if so, why would he leave?  Who walks away from that kind of money?  Is Alan Jones going to support the Cleveland football program much like he does with the Cleveland wrestling program, if not I don't see Gary Rankin going to Cleveland or any other public school due to the fact the pay would not be as good as where he is now.

Cleveland coaching carousel continues. Will be interesting to see where the Cleveland coaching search leads them. Honestly hate to see Wheeler go, but had a feeling this would be his last season here.

Cleveland is a dead end job. To high expectations for what they have. No one has produced on expectations since Benny Monroe. Walker Valley has hurt Cleveland.

No stability at the head coach position, not being able to beat our biggest rival in nearly a decade are probably bigger factors. Cleveland wasn’t exactly setting the world on fire before Walker Valley, but we did have stability at the top. Nowadays we change coaches every 4 years.

From what I heard you all could’ve had Rankin years ago but went in another direction. Also, I apologize for not scrolling down to see that you had started this thread or I wouldn’t have started mine. My bad.

Why would Rankin want to get involved in that cluster of a system administration?

Be really surprised to see that happen.

From what I heard he would’ve taken the job years ago, but they went in another direction. Of course, the situation with the administration might be different now, plus I don’t know how it would effect him drawing his retirement.

    • What we have here is an influx of outsiders raining down on the town of Maryville like a swarm of locust trying to change our culture into the same crap they moved away from. I have no issues with anyone coming here but don't bring your politics with you. Most people around here never pay attention to the elections and keep letting the same ole rats and vermin right back in the back door and wonder why things are like they are. The problem at Maryville High is mainly due to letting outsiders get a foothold on control and shove their agenda down everyone's throat. Anyone that leaves there or let's say ranoff are replaced with an outsider with the same mindset. Eventually Maryville High will never be the same as it once was which I'm beginning to believe already but it's only chance of survival are to recruit people that will get in there and reverse the damage that has already happened.
