Young Buck, I have been asked to and have sent in a nomination ballot every year since the late 90s.

And although I haven't been one of the selection committee members, I am friends with a couple who are part of that process.  Just because I am retired from active media doesn't mean that I don't still have friends in media and coaching.

But whatever floats your boat, YB.

My apologies

OK, so explain to me how Mr. Football is selected.

I am aware of how it is done.  Don't believe that most people, are, however.

First off have no dog in the fight but I watched this one bc of kid from White Co amazing stats and team making 1st playoff run. Kid from Karns is D1 talent. Spears responded to a lady on Twitter with factual info, she said based on lack of coverage and Spears put the link up showing Tennessean did a big piece on White Co RB which is how I learned of his accomplishments. I would appreciate more of your knowledge on like committee of media( how many, locations region. Where would confirmation of academics and character come? Nominee coach wouldn't suggest his player if he lacked these qualities. Or are nominations not made by players coach/school?

That is correct.  Contrary to popular belief it's not an award given to those who receive the most "votes".  Media and coaches nominate individuals, and those nominations are tabulated and then the semi-finalists selected. From there an independent committee makes the selection, and none of those can have any ties to schools or nominees.

It's not a popular vote.

Independent committee is TSSAA? Thanks again for your insite.

No, not TSSAA personnel.

And I will add that in all of my years when I have done a nomination ballot I took it seriously, as do those I know who also have a nomination ballot.  I took time to do research and talk to people who saw a potential nominee play and had interaction with them.  And I didn't make nominations in classifications that I wasn't familiar with, in my case the lower D1s and D2s, given that I didn't have much opportunity to see them play.

Let me tell all of you this. You wont find a better kid. A more respectable kid then Malaki Dowell. He makes really good grades.  Some of you should be ashamed of yourselves trying to say him not getting award because of character or grades. He is not a hood rat.

This seems a bit misread. I don’t think folks were making fun of the kid but simply asking/stating what may be used as judging criteria. Just cause he didn’t get it doesn’t mean he’s a “hood rat”. I may try to avoid the term “hood rat” in the future

wth.  We don't know him either.  And no one called him names.  We are trying to figure out why he didn't get it.

Man I bet you're a huge hit at parties and whatnot.  I love a good oneUpper.

When you get a chance can you describe how an atom is split? And what's the oxygen/hydrogen mix on Mercury?  Let me know when you get in touch with your friends that have been to Mercury and have splitted them atoms.

    • Im asking everyone to keep roy whited and his family in your prayers. Coach whited won back to back state championships at white county in 98-99. He is very well liked and respected in this area. For those of you that dont know he went missing 3 days ago. No one knows where he is. His truck was found in a rural part of the county. Thanks again. We are all very concerned.
    • West would be a good team to get behind if they can pull it off again like last year. That championship game last year was awesome.
    • I say that because he stepped out of a MUCH better situation on his own than he would see at least his first 3 years at DCA and it would take at least that much to bring him back to coaching. There are other fish in the sea, but again money talks. Need to fix the girls hoops too. Now I'll try again. Who has Pierce locked in for his staff? Hearing a McGavock man but not the Iceman.
    • I’ve heard mostly good things from the gridiron. Lots of optimism. It sounds like the portal has mostly helped, though there are a few expected defections. Comeback year!
    • Rudesell 1 year at Crockett. Coach Tate 2 weeks a Bradford. South Gibson supposedly going with jcs middle school coach. Which isn’t who I thought would get it, I know the top 2 was between him and Obion girls head coach.
