What I know he will do is bring excitement to the program, new look , new swagger, Give defenses fits, Draw talent from other area schools, develop talent that is thee like crazy, get the entire school engaged . Drive community support and show the same to the community. ....I promise you this much, give him a couple years to get it going and you will be a powerhouse in that region. And you will dang sure score some points....

I’m hoping he can get us into the jordan gear. I hate under armour.

He is not a lazy man... he will have stuff and in place very quick.... If they are really gonna open the checkbook to get that program turned around and doing big things... He will absolutely do it...

Dude... You are as full of crap as a Christmas turkey. If he has the same success at Cleveland offensively as he did at Blackman he will be fine, Especially if the defensive side of the ball is matched. Blackman gave Oakland a good game until the last 8 minutes, when playing your best players on both sides of the ball finally wore out.  Lets put you in a grown up world for a minute and pretend you can double your pay for the same job, with potential bonuses, travel allowances and a blank check for needed/wanted equipment and facilities upgrades... or stay put and take less.... As a coach or an employee, you are worth what people are willing to pay.

Tygard had three good athletes.  They graduated and he left.  Cleveland can afford to pay him double?  If true that's very sad for Blackman.  Doubtful he doubled though.  Uhhh....the game with Oakland.  Woulda, coulda, shoulda.  No prize for 3 or 4th or whatever blackman came in.

I can certainly understand why he left Blackman then.  My question now is this.   What has he done as a head coach to warrant the salary?  No rings, not even a region championship.   Sure he brings lots of excitement and a air raid up tempo offense but until he actually wins something then he hasn't won anything.

I think given a couple years at Cleveland he will be turning heads. Offense was not the issue at Blackman. He proved he could score on anyone and did plenty of it. The weakness was the defensive side of the ball. I believe the issue with Cleveland was the opposite. They just couldn't get anything going offensively. This may be the perfect storm for him

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
