Just following this thread, I feel Oak Ridge has really found their guy, and Coach Rang has found his long term home.

I think so too. He seems organized, has a plan and knows what the strengths and weaknesses are. Oak Ridge since 2005 has had some good teams and a few down years too.  I felt like each team during that era was missing a piece somewhere, whether it was the lines, secondary, quarterback etc. each year they were missing one or more of these pieces, 2005 was the last team that had the complete package. I think Coach Rang will be able to put players in the right positions for success. I know he well realizes the value of the weight room in all positions, but especially the lines. He also said he will develop quarterbacks and I like that. I think he has a good group to start with this season, but it may take a couple of seasons to get them where they should be, Some good news is more and more students are enrolling in Oak Ridge schools to the point where they may have to build a new elementary school and surely among those are a few football players.  Looking forward to the season.

I thought the Meet and Greet at Oakeys for Coach Rang went well, I like what I heard and saw and he seems to be really the right fit to jump start this program. He will have some good skill talent returning and if he can develop solid line play this team could really be good, I like the fact that he will be developing quarterbacks and his offense will play through them, I understand he is a pretty good play caller as well.  I think they got it right this time, looking forward to the season,

Why didn’t oak ridge win it all in 2005?

You’re welcome bounder. We may not agree on everything, but you are a true oak ridge fan and I respect a fan that sticks with their team through thick and thin.

That’s the mystery we’ve all been trying to figure out for going on 18 years now. While we did have the better team on paper, as we all know that doesn’t always translate to winning. There are all kinds of excuses and factors that could be mentioned, and I’m one of them that has made them throughout the years concerning that game, but at the end of the day Ravenwood was just the better team that night.

    • Groves got the ball over 20+ times. His son arguably played the best for East in that game. 3rd and long multiple times and he came up big to continue a couple drives. Please shut up for the 3rd year in a row
    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
