Going to need to make a big hire. All these kids transferred to Blackman to get in Tygard's system now this is going to shake up some things.

A bunch of the ones that did are graduating. Blackman being in the same county as Oakland is gonna scare some off from applying.

I do think Blackman was on the right trail bringing in someone with a much different offensive scheme than Oakland. They do however need a guy who will toughen them up, or at least a DC that will. It's been awhile since they've had a defense I would consider above average to good

Agreed, my boy is class of 25 at Blackman and that group is pretty good. He said “daddy I told the crew we gotta work harder”

a little later than one would prefer...but thinkin the Blaze should be in a decent spot to attract a good coach....gonna need to be another aggressive strong personality with a good staff to keep and bring kids that may other wise end up over with the local GOAT...

...anxious to see what happens for the Blaze

Booger just sayin :thumb:

This is interesting, because on some level I think it's better that they want to hire a coach that is different schematically then Creasy at Oakland, but I still think I would want someone this time whose more focused on the run game and playing great defense. Those seem to be what would help Blackman take the next steps. Just my opinion. Can't wait to see where this search goes.

A good hire will keep them going. Definitely need a good DC. Blackman will still be able to put points up but got to stop teams that shouldn't have put up as many points as they did. Tygard did a great job building up the youth programs and a lot of talent going into the middle school and high school in coming years. The high school will be fine with the right hire, I am more interested to see the effect on the youth programs. Because Tygard was very involved with all of it.

Blackman is a honey hole for the right coach, who is willing to sit down and stay for a little while. They have one of the best youth leagues  , and middle school funneling talent to the HS. 5 head coaches in ten years has pushed some of those kids to other HS’s. Some stability and it is a sleeping giant.

The real poison is in Blackman middle school... an unnamed  coach is telling parents and players they need to go to Rockvale or Oakland... so says some of the parents I have heard talking about swapping to Oakland

    • WHOOOOO!    WHAT A GREAT DAY TO BE AN INDIAN. ITS GAME DAY!    The Indians will face the Dragons tonight in a tough game. The Indians will be led onto the field by Jimmy May and the Dragons will be led on by Coach Derwin Wright.    Fellas, it’s time to get after it. We have got to fit the run tonight and play that HARD NOSE Indian D. #2 has got to show out tonight and have the game of his life. I believe he will show out tonight. Our D-Line can not get drove off the ball. We have got to control the LOS all night long.    As for our SOFT NOSE Indian offense. We can’t play in our end of the field tonight. We’ve got to get the ball moving and we’ve got to play. We’ve got to get some points on the board and be able to pass the ball with good protection in the trenches. We should be able to develop a run game against their defensive formation and get about 6 yards. But can we block good upfront? That’s the question.    WE HAVE GOT TO GET AFTER IT FELLAS. BIG GAME ON THE LINE TONIGHT. WE HAVE GOT TO WIN THE GAME UP FRONT IN THE TRENCHES. ITS TIME TO GO FELLAS.    AS ALWAYS, GO BIG O!
    • I agree with this.. However, I do think it will be a challenge for Clinton to hire a proven head coach. I just don't see anybody in this area that fits that bill.
    • Certainly will be competitive -CC pulls it out though
    • If Knox County is not going to do anything about it then TSSAA is not going to do anything about it. Knox County Schools, Central Office/School Board created this problem. It could happen at any Knox County school but the principal at BHS, Debbie Saylers listened to some parents and boosters club people and decided to hire Coach Jones and his Flying Circus. Brian Brown knows what is going on. Superintendent of Knox County Schools knows what is going on.  They could call TSSAA and get the ball rolling. But BHS is 3-3 and they might go anywhere between 5-5, 6-4, or 7-3. They aren't going to win a state championship and get the rest of the state football powers upset. Coach Jones has already had to fire an assistant Coach for cussing out a player, or was he told to fire him by Administration. Could you imagine the cussing that some got after this Maryville gut stomping/Tennessee dog whooping went down. Now the BHS coaches know they have to watch their back on the language because someone is watching them. If things keep going down hill and more parents/boosters get mad at Coach Jones for not producing a state championship that was promised after he got all his players in then the problem will take care of itself. Some people involved might gat a slap on the wrist and be reassigned with in the school system but everything will hopefully go back to normal. Knox County Schools will pat themselves on the back for making BHS  and West Knoxville more diverse, equitable, and inclusive. All Principal Saylers was doing was making a DEI hire by bringing in Coach Jones and his Flying Circus.
