Looks like the Rockwood Alumni Association failed you.

"The Alcoa High School and Maryville High School football game is considered the longest consecutive rivalry series in the country. The two schools have been competing against each other since 1921, and they have played each other every year ever since, making it a continuous rivalry."

To my knowledge Maryville's first team was considered 1926 but records show that they did play Everett in 24 and 25. Before that it was Maryville Polytechnic and the first real Maryville High was located where the municipal building is.

Either 24 or 26 not sure. They were just down the street1/4 of a mile. May be why they consider the 26 team the first one

I always figured it was probably newer than that. Most HS in Middle TN that have been in existence that long are on their second building or made major renovations

Alcoa's first team was in 1924 and so was Everett. I do know Maryville played Everett in those two years because I own a booklet from back in the 20's and Everett beat them in both years.
