Dyer Co beat them 4 scores to 3 scores in a varsity scrimmage 2 weeks ago.

I feel Haywood will ride the struggle bus this year. New head coach, new QB. It will be tough for them to pick up where thy left off last year like they normally do. I want to give Puckett the benefit of a year or two to engrain his philosophy into the program. This is not saying they won't have a winning record, i just can't see them in the semis this year, and I'm a tomcat fan.

I will take your word for it. Anxious to see how the season unfolds for the Tomcats

Yes they did but don't think Pure Academy, whoever they are,Memphis Business,Obion Central or Dyer Co will beat them

Won't be surprised if PURE Academy does beat Haywood. Last year, PURE did lose to MUS. However, they were tied at 7 at the end of the first half.

PURE Academy has an all road schedule. No home games for them. They have the toughest schedule in the state. Teams included: Haywood, Cookeville, Hardin County, Pearl-Cohn, Blackman, Walker Valley, a team from Missouri, and two teams from Mississippi. No team from Memphis is going to travel to north of Chattanooga in Cleveland to play, and get beat by 50.

I legit wish the kids well. You never want to see young people go through hard times. But as I am reading the comments about the 23 season my mind goes back to some comments about how teams were ducking the Tomcats because of their strength. In hindsight it may be a blessing that Haywood wasn’t able to fill the non-region schedule with the elites of the area.

    • No reasonable lawyer would take up this case. I am not a lawyer, but I know school law in and out.  Similar situations just like this play out thousands of times each year across the country, even at the college level (i.e. Ole Miss)  The Plaintiff's never win...ever.  If I am wrong, please provide a legal precedent for me. I will be waiting.  https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39431892/judge-drops-ole-miss-player-lawsuit-lane-kiffin
    • Yes Justin Cruse was named head coach
    • It used to be, I think it still is, a change of 20% +/- gives reason to reclassify. Schools can choose to play up classifications but not down. Here is the mid cycle reclassification info on TSSAA.org When Memphis East changed from a regular public school to an "all-optional" school in 2017 the would've dropped to A but chose to stay in AAA in basketball (baseball, and softball) Penny was still coaching there and with the players they had they would've beaten A teams by 40 and slept walked to the championship. Other Memphis schools stayed in their classifications (mostly in basketball) until the next reclassification cycle. Of course this is the same time that a 4th class was added basketball.
