Yes,very good.SP and TC were heads above all the rest but GB,CF and Gordy were definitely no slouches in the 1A east.Oneida was another strong 1A team also. They have 8 Semi appearances!

We’re hovering around 70% over our 88 seasons I believe. Been some leaner times the last while than we’d like but it’ll turn eventually.

Look at our history,so have we regardless of transfers 70% win percentage for near 40 years until last 3.Probably better than Gordys as a whole. Our youth programs are outstanding also.4-1 all time verses Gordy

That’s where it starts. With the kids playing when they’re little. We had a 6yr old league called “grass cutters”. Now days with all the garbage about CTE parents won’t let the kids play. I can’t say I’m brain damaged but I’m sure Swipes would disagree. .

A lot of people who are born here and play here, stay here so the same bloodlines run through the football program so there’s a lot of expectation to be good on Friday nights from the generation before

We are also blessed with a lot of high quality men coaching our youth, jr high and high school teams. Great community support and our administration are great when it comes to supporting all of our sports programs.

I would like to hear @croz6110’s opinion on this

I think much of it is the emphasis put on football here. But, from what I could tell, that didn't happen until Coach Ford came back to Gville. Now, when he came back, we had some real football players. From the late 70s to the late 80s, we had some tuff ones.

i think a tradition of toughness was started then that a lot of teams don't have. however, we're not as tough as we used to be, but then again, I don't believe anybody is.

Spot on

A lot goes into not being as tough anymore I think and it’s changed the game at the high school level. Some for the worst and some for the best imo

I am proud to have been a part of the football program and I’m still proud to be a fan of it. I pray for nothing but good days ahead for Gordonsville football and I will support it until Jesus calls me home

Oz is one dimensional and I think CF is too well coached not to be able to figure out a way to shut that down. CF can do both. My guess is CF throws for 200 and runs for 150. I just don't think Oz can keep up with that for 4 quarters. Treece is putting up some gaudy numbers and I think that will continue.

Edit: Just watched the Whitwell game and I have to give Boeke credit, he's a pretty good QB. Still think CF wins by 3 TD's cause of coaching though.

Well until somebody from the East outside of South Pitt can play and give CF a game then they will be the team to beat. It’s simple they haven’t had a game all year outside 3A Sequatchie Co that they have had to worry bout. They have a great bunch of athletes and an elite coaching staff. The proof is in the pudding when you are consistently In the semis each year. Then you are the top dawg until somebody knocks you down and right now CF is up top and everybody else is looking up tryin to climb the ladder to catch ‘em.

I think OS is a very good team and the best team they have had in a while down there. I think they may give CF a battle that no other single A team has done this year but in the end CF knows how to win ball games.

OSHS has a very good team, with only 3 srs they will be good for alot of years

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
