You might want to read up as well. BA lost. Voluntary membership in TSSAA. They, as well as Lipscomb, chose to join. Their rules come with it.

You read up on it - BA won on the 14th Amendment claim and lost the 1st Amendment claim.  My point is, let LA have due process like the Constitution states.  Also, every few years revisit the 1st Amendment claim and fight for your rights.  Google it.

Pride has gotten to live it a couple times....the first obviously bein slammed worser than the other by that gavel slammin T$$AA Judge

Booger just sayin

Except for 1997 (when BA was denied the playoffs and BEFORE they filed their lawsuit), BA and MBA have NEVER missed a playoff season.  Even when MBA was caught for a years of paying players tuition and when BA lost the 1st Amendment case ten years later, they still played in the playoffs.  LA is being railroaded and if these other schools had any sense, they would all be alarmed at the draconian penalties levied on LA.  Because they could be next.

You can exercise your 1st and 14th amendment rights all you want, but T$$AA is a voluntary association. You can still play a high school football schedule in Tennessee or outside the state of Tennessee if you can find teams that will schedule you. Lipscomb Academy should keep practicing and see if they can play teams from other states that don't adhere to the rules. Maybe IMG or others want to scrimmage or Lipscomb could become a travel football team. I am sure Coach Jones at BHS could set them up.

You're missing the point - Just because the TSSAA is a volunteer organization doesn't mean Lipscomb (or any school) leaves their Constitutional rights at the door.  TSSAA is a "government actor" and as such CANNOT violate any of Constitutional rights of it's members.  PERIOD.

You're incorrectly referencing the 1st Ammendment ruling - a voluntary agency can make their own rules on recruitment.  Do your homework and read the decision(s).

I agree, LA is done for this year and maybe can salvage next year.  If not, their program is toast.

If they are banned from the playoffs for the next 2 years They could probably play a team or 2 from California or Vegas.  There are several other semi pro high schools that would play them I am certain.

on a different note I am wondering if Lipscomb will retain all coaches or if they will clean house

It is always sad for the kids when things like this happens. But honestly-- these kids had a pretty good run over the last few years.  The seniors at Lipscomb won two state championships.  For the last two to three years--they have had the most talent of any program in the state.

If what the TSSAA has rules/determined is true, these kids may have benefitted from a program that played fast and loose with the rules. The kids are not at fault--but because they were part of organization that is deemed to have committed multiple serious infractions, the punishment is harsh, but I am not sure it is unfair (assuming Lipscomb did really have multiple serious rule violations).

Lipscomb had 10 games this season.  This places them in the same category as about 120 Tennessee teams that did not make the playoffs this year.  At least the TSSAA did not vacate all of their wins in 2023 and Lipscomb will be able to play in the regular season in 2024.

Then why is BA still a member school in the T$$AA. They are back in the organization that violated their constitutional rights. They should have just stayed with a regional/national schedule and said we will continue doing what we want. In the long run T$$AA won.
