Well, how did the Tri-cities do tonight?         All 5 teams are one-and-done, losing by a combined score of 180-30.       At least Tennessee High and Science Hill scored, so hats off to them.       Is anything ever going to change in the Tri-cities?      Nah.....  someone bookmark this thread for the 1st round 2024

Here's one way to look at it: This was supposed to be a comparatively "up" year for Science Hill and a comparatively "down" year for Maryville. This was supposed to be the best chance ever for Science Hill to beat Maryville in the playoffs.

Maryville won by 26 points and the game was basically over in the 2nd quarter.

This was a topic around the table this morning. You have the occasional situation like last year where SH made it to the 3rd round but that’s more uncommon than common. Most years it is a mass round 1 exit. It’s troubling and, if football remotely matters, something has to change.

Just my two cents. As a parent of a couple young men who attended one of these programs, I took it personally to have my boys as physically  ready to play before they ever got to the high school level. That just left the coaching up to the coaches. One of mine stayed the distance and got the very most out of his potential and that was all NET  .The  most gifted had a no BS policy as did many of his gifted teammates. I guess the answer for Batman is it starts at home and continues with the coaches and everyone involved with a program. Some parents expect little jimmy to go from a boy to a man and frankly, not all coaching staff’s are as good as Greeneville and Elizabethton’s.No way these schools should be able to beat the local 5a and 6a schools as often as they do. We know now by watching these  4a powerhouses over the last 15 years, that there is talent in NET.

    • Best-of-three sectional series vs East Robertson at home starting Wednesday.  They put us out last year at this point.  Go Pirates!!
    • I don't believe they have anyone that is surbers caliber but a decent staff overall.
    • Richland plays at McKenzie on Wed.  Should be a good series.  Does Richland have good pitching?
    • Congratulations to the Warrior baseball team winning the Region Championship.  Last night the football team beat Franklin Co 33-0 in their spring scrimmage. Warriors looked very good. Missing a few players who were playing baseball but still absolutely dominated. A lot of young ones got in halfway through the 3rd when the score reached 33-0. QB Tilton Pickett looked very sharp.  Sam Pickett is on another level this season. Seems to have put on 15 to 20 lbs in the off season and added a step as well. Transfer from last year Williamson caught numerous balls and is very elusive. Lots of athletes on this team. Defense was smothering and will only get better. The head coach from Sewanee was in attendance and offered 2 kids after the game. Could be a special year.
