If they could get rid of that first week of playoff games, I think it would be so much better. Just let the Top 2 teams from every region make it. Then making the playoffs actually means something. I know they never will due to $ but 32 teams making the playoffs is ridiculous.

Don't tell Livingston Academy that, they actually won the state and was a seller dweller, Thats definitely the exception and not the rule but it can happen. I sorta like it this way, little teams like to make the playoffs and its good for their communities and the season is not over so fast, they come and go away to fast for me. Then again ,I reckon they have to have BB season some time, lol

I like the playoffs as is.

Top 4 each region.

Every region is represented equally as far as teams and I understand that not all regions are created equally,  but that's just the way the cookie crumbles in this simple format.

Sure, a better school gets left out, but if you're not top 4 in your region you shouldn't be in it anyways.

Any type of wildcard format would lead to schools scheduling softer schedules.

I think with this simple format it allows for better out of region games across all classifications.  And you don't hamper schools that are located in remote areas that have difficulty finding teams to schedule out of their area.

Just my thoughts.  Others think differently and that's ok.

Agree on the top 4 from each region just think it would be cool to seed the 16 in the East and West 1 through 16 and play ball. You wouldn’t have some many of the same teams playing in the early in playoffs year after year.

Think we have a chance of playing 3 or 4 teams we've never played before. I know thats far from the norm, its pretty much always been the same teams over and over.

Surprised?

Nope. Lol.

I haven't done a survey but how do you think coaches like our playoff format?

I think coaches like it.  It's simple & you know what you gotta do to make playoffs.

I think it's easier to make an out of region schedule as well.  But I'd like to know what coaches think.  And Administrators.

Thats hard to say but I've not heard of any coach that thinks we need to change it. We do need to deal with Magnets , City, charters ect, just anyone who is not like a real public school. Take Memphis and move them to Iraq.LOL

I think it would be interesting if they did it how North Carolina does. Once you have your 16 teams for the playoffs for the East and West seed the playoffs by your RPI. Then you wouldn’t be playing the same teams over and over. It’s the playoffs if you have to travel so be it. I think Kentucky seeds by RPI too.

I remember reading about KY doing it. I like it.

I remember hearing about another state, maybe Arkansas, can't remember, but their RPI system rewarded you for beating teams above your class. I can't remember the details but something like you got 1 point for beating a 1A school, 2 points for beating a 2A school, etc etc. At the end of the year, the team with most points, is # 1 seed, and so on down to seed #16.

Coaches I've talked to from power programs, they want a first round bye for the top teams. 3 teams from each region make it with the 2,3 playing the first weekend. All 1's get a first round bye. This is pretty much the consensus among the ones you would expect to get byes. The coaches I've talked to from midlevel teams love it. Cause they can suck it up and still make playoffs and they can say "we made the playoffs, you can't say we had a bad year". But in reality it's watered down football. Opening week had some pretty bad football teams playing.

I don't like a first round bye.  But then again, I'm not a coach.  I'd rather have a tune up game.  The older I get, the more games I want.  I'm selfish that way.  ;)
