Until Maryville plays the recruiting game like others in the state and in the tough region they are in they will be a middle of the pack type of team. The only thing that saved Hunt this year was getting Alcoa. Rang looking around after he wasted a loaded SR class and noticing the talent level going down. Lucky for him his region is poop water. GQ looking for anyway out.

Derek Hunt has the same exact issues that Rang has at Oak Ridge. The well ran dry on athletes we once took for granted. Their both smart men and will get through this.

I think both Maryville and Oak Ridge will be OK. Both have bright young coaches and they both realize the importance of developing younger players. there will be years they are not as good as others, and it will be hard for them to beat the recruiting schools since both have high tuitions to deal with. Maryville had some key injuries if I read it right and that hurt, OR had a really good senior class, but some of them were a lot better than previous years thanks to Coach Rang and staff bringing out a higher level of play in them. Both teams have younger quarterbacks returning, so that is a good foundation for the offenses.

True or false.  Is NIL applicable to high schools in the state and are schools actually allowed to "pay" athletes now?  At one time, Maryville's success and the quality of their coaching staff (both professionally and personally) 'recruited' some really good players and families to move into their zone.  If $$ is actually involved now, that changes the whole dynamic, does it not?

 

Really asking.  No "veiled agenda" here.

All the winning Maryville was what done the recruiting. Far as the NIL goes Coach Hunt is not in favor of that and I couldn't agree more. There are only going to be a handful of schools that would even be in the position to do that and in my opinion if you do you belong with the private schools.

      Thanks for responding to my 7 month old post.  Yes, the coaching staff was mediocre.  You just made the case with the number of players a 1a school graduated and returning.  With the case you made, you should be able to hang with Alcoa with those players.

      If Oneida offers TL the head coaching job at Oneida, he’d leave AC in a flash. Don’t kid yourself Misseltow.  Being a DC at AC doesn’t trump being a head coach at a place he liked and had success at. If the situation ever presents itself, he’s gone from the firework show bonanza. But right now that doesn’t look like Oneida has TL in their plans. (But I have no idea why they would not)

      This is a joke same mediocre coaching staff will have that team ready to play believe that! They return 4 of 5 starters on the OL sir! That’s where the game is won in the trenches. Out of those 17 SR’s only about 9 really played . That 2027 Class is loaded those where the studs! A lot of them got held back due to the sr heavy RB room.  Returning 7 starters on defense. They will be just fine watch what I tell you! Please continue to doubt the mediocre coaching staff! They just find a way to get it done against the great coaches in TN!

      We played South Side this summer and it went into OT and we lost on a last second shot. I thought our girls handled their pressure as well as we have in a while and that is the reason I think we will have a really good ball handling team. South Gibson will have their hands full with Dyersburg and South Gibson has never beat South Side. Back to what I was saying South Gibson needs another ball handler especially if they have to play South Side in a do or die game and handle their pressure. As far as who wins our Region, it will be must see basketball for sure and like I said I like our team. I like your team as well. Huntingdon is loaded 5 in and 5 out and you got a great Junior High Team. Huntingdon Fans are going to have a whole lot of fun the next 5 or 6 years. Loretto is really good this year. I got to watch them in Brentwood. They got a Freshman Guard that can go. Going to be a fun year.
