MTF.....Eric Taylor played both ways agin us laist yeer and evun tha kick teems......Souper playur....Much tha way Brad Lee uses Boo......:popcorneater:

That one slipped my mind. Taylor was out for 2/3 of the regular season so plenty fresh and I agree that Bradley uses him in a similar fashion. , but with the holes he was running through I think any of Oakland's TBs would have had a big day

What Maryville achieved will never be done again at the 5A or 6A level

From the BC games I watched, #6 gets as involved as they need him to. Some games it seems like he only touches the ball for five times. However, other games, he plays a much bigger role on both sides of the ball. Their coaches seem to do a good job of not over using him and risk him getting hurt.

Everyone that's been around knew this year and next year were going to be lean years. Dip in overall talent and kids that were good just not playing anymore.

Talent is going to pick back up. That's not to say a transfer or two wouldn't help, but the cupboard will be restocked soon.

Solly-I hope your are right, but I see it a little different. Transfers have played a BIG part of Murvil football. About four or five years ago when the two stud players from local high schools transferred to a city school, it was not into Murvil city. That threw up a big flag for me. I’m not sure the cause of this. Some of our Murvil friends tried to argue that those kids were not that good anyway. They both went to D1 schools. Why?

Now with NIL tempting players, it is another hurdle to overcome. I hope we got a plan to keep up.

I saw Bradley doing that slow shift (Chavis' prowler defense comes to mind) and thought, If we snapped it a few times while they were milling about, we might break a long run or two.

    • Sounds like a great opportunity has opened up for the football team.  With the head coach of the diamond rebels making it official and quitting this week, there should be some room for the gridiron guys to benefit. I assume the administration won’t continue paying six figures to two former coach that quit to continue teaching drivers Ed. Thats pretty good money that could be redirected toward the football program. Also, with the more recent policies of pushing kids to only play one sport, abolishing the baseball program altogether would help on Friday nights in the fall. There is some decent speed on that baseball team that should’ve been playing on Fridays IMO. I’m not sure if anybody would really miss that baseball program anyway with it being across town from the school. The liability of letting players actually use the facilities could also be mitigated with closing the program. That liability seems to be a really big issue for 825. Anyway, it seems like a great opportunity is available.
    • Yeah, I read about their spring blue/gray scrimmage after I typed that.   Sounds like a real mess over there.  I just hate that for 'em.  Haw
    • Maybe OR will be, but Farragut, nah, I don’t think anybody realizes how much of a bad situation that program is in currently. I’m sure they will build out of it, but the next 3 to 4 years are going to be a long climb up.
    • Thats one of the problems of having an 8-team region. A team could make it in any other region, but the numbers work against them in this one.
