I'm pretty sure JL is on campus.

Not what I said.

Certified and classified are 2 different situations.  Until the last couple of years classified haven't been hired as head football coaches in Knox County.

Great hire I expect a closet cleaning this off-season

The athletic director must’ve not gone through any of the current assistant coaches to hear about their opinion that or they're already gone, and the closet is very deep, hopefully he can do it in one off-season, and hopefully, the athletic director actually gives him the power that’s needed.:popcorneater:

Catholic not going out and hiring somebody with a pulse after Matthews left was equivalent to waiving a white flag and admitting that they can't compete in that classification.

After watching that Baylor and McCallie game before 20,000 people and to think of Catholic playing at a place that is more in line for a decent 3A school.  Always dreaded going there to play because I'm not one of those that wants to go 2 hours before a game to get a seat.

forgot about that. nonetheless it’s a home run hire. I think he can have success here, although he wasn’t left with much to play with.

So will that be the caveat if Central doesn't return to their state championship form, that Coach Lane wasn't left much to play with?

no. this year no one should expect to see immediate results. over time? yes. central scraped by the skin of their teeth to have a winning record the past 2 years(total) and that was solely because of one person and he’s graduating in a few months. the roster is pretty bare.

So what are the expectations of this fantastic home run hire at Central if the cupboard is bare, the star RB that kept the ship a float is gone, and there might be a question about the AD cooperating with some things. Seems like year one will be a pass. What is the time line in you opinion?

Pretty clear that Danny is on borrowed time. Took him two months to hire a coach and got turned down about six times. As for Big Kev, is he still gonna sell light fixtures and just moonlight as a coach? Or does he plan on actually working in the building? Seems like it would be tough to run a program from a job site

That's ok if he works another job. A lot of coaches work other jobs. Just start practice around 6 in the evening so everyone can get there on time.

Most all youth league coaches work another job and coach for free and I'm sure he isn't on the clock and commission based and coaching job would offset any losses there but who knows the coaching job may even help his sales. Most coaches are tied up at school all day for the same period of time he would be on another job.

You can't expect kids to hang around after school for 2 and a half hours until practice starts, nothing good can come from that.   Most kids are not in position to ride a bus home, walk or get a ride and then make it back to school at 6.  So no that won't work.
