If the ruler thing is real.....I heard they take a ruler and slide it from east to west and if the schools east of that ruler they go region 1.

That means Bearden gets the 2 hour trips.....

Yeah, but it doesn't always work that way.  Some ADs and principals have more influence in getting placed where they want to be placed than others do.

When William Blount is placed in 1-6A, and Maryville, who is closer to the other 1-6A schools than William Blount is, you can pretty much throw that ruler thing out the window.  William Blount lobbied to be placed in 1-6A.  Other schools lobby for placement for various reasons, too.

Any guesses on 5A?

So by no means should you take this with any kind of certainty and feel free to criticize this projection, I'm not as familiar with 5A.

1-5A: Sevier Co., Morristown East, Morristown West, David Crockett, Daniel Boone, Tennessee, Cocke Co.

2-5A: West, Powell, Halls Heritage, Knox. Central

3-5A: Lenoir City, Clinton, Karns, Campbell Co., William Blount

4-5A: East Hamilton, McMinn Co., Walker Valley, Rhea Co., Ooltewah,  Soddy-Daisy

5-5A: Lincoln Co., Tullahoma, Columbia, Lawrence Co., Franklin Co., Page, Centennial, Nolensville

6-5A: Hillsboro, Glencliff, Beech, Hendersonville, Portland, Station Camp, Hunters Lane

7-5A: Henry Co., Northeast, Northwest, Kirkwood, Kenwood, Dickson Co., Lawson

8-5A: Munford, Memphis Central, Brighton, Kingsbury, Overton

8-5A: Munford, Memphis Central, Brighton, Kingsbury, Overton

Soddy Daisy joins that 5A group, so maybe 1 in reg 1 moves to reg 2, maybe McMinn moves to 3 and Soddy Daisy goes into 4 to take their place

Thanks, looks pretty accurate to me on 5-8. I’m not as familiar with East TN

Heritage is now in 4A...

I say Powell and William Blount goes to Region 3 while Campbell Co and Sevier Co join Region 2... making it 5 teams across region 1, 2, and 3

I'll give 1-5A through 4-5A a swing:

  • 1-5A - Morristown West, David Crockett, Daniel Boone, Tennessee, Cocke Co.
  • 2-5A - Sevier Co., West, Powell, Halls, Knox. Central
  • 3-5A - Lenoir City, Clinton, Karns, Campbell Co., William Blount
  • 4-5A - East Hamilton, McMinn Co., Walker Valley, Rhea Co., Ooltewah, Soddy-Daisy

Significant competitive imbalance between Regions 2 and 3. I could see Powell swapping with Campbell County or William Blount.

That 2 5A region would be a bloodbath...hopefully they put one of West or Powell in that region 3 so they could potentially meet in the semifinals.

    • Yep . You are correct sir. Nobody there gives a ship about football.. built baseball new field house. Put new bleachers and new floor in basketball gym. Built band boosters a new concession building AT fball field. New tennis courts , new seats at softball field…… administration wouldn’t even install hand rail on 40 year old bleachers for safety and ADA requirements . It’s insane to ask them to care about who they hire for fball coach . The only way football will ever get what it needs is a thorough house cleaning from top to bottom. Coaching staff, administrators, central office. You’re correct. Fball is at the bottom of the pecking order and this post is the last attention those kids will get this season ……
    • The 106, 113,126,132,175 were guys that started for us Tuesday. SO no we did not lose 14 starters between Tuesday and Thursday.  There are two more chances to seee those match ups.
    • PC was really really good before the past few years. In 2018 (just 7 years ago), PC had their best chance to win the State Championship before losing a 13 pt lead in the 3rd qtr to the eventual State Champs (Greenfield) that had, I believe, 3 D1 prospects (two played for Tn Vols).
    • This is correct. I made the exact same observation about 10 or so years ago. I used to watched PC get beat by the Clarkrange's of the world by 30-40 points. Then year after year, there were noticeable changes to the PC program. They started AAU and playing together all the time. Whether that is solely on current SC coach or the fact the players played together ALL the time, I'm not sure. But PC basketball got TONS better once that system was in place.
    • So Sammy, you lost 14 wrestlers from Tuesday to Thursday? Now I do understand the flu has sucked this year, most of Soddy had it earlier in the season and had to cancel going to a tourney. Plus it helps keep the other team healthy not having to wrestle sick guys.  Just hate sickness and injuries knocked out pretty much 14 guys that wrestled against Stone Memorial and Sam Everett!  I was hopeful to see Sudderth vs Wade and Davis vs Harris. Guess we will hopefully see those matchups in a few weeks with sectionals!
