The dude doesn’t know anything about Alcoa either with his figures, recruiting allegations, and even the size of the middle school.  He just said Alcoa had won 10 Championships in AA football when they haven’t been in AA for 17 years.

Just making an observation. They are AA in basketball

You are correct but they also don’t have 10 championships in basketball and would have been talking about football which they aren’t AA

You have I don’t know anything about Alcoa written all over you. Winning recruits itself ( if you truly believe Alcoa goes out and bring in kids every year by actually recruiting you are obtuse) and having kids want to be part of a top school system with a great education and great athletics. (Please let me know who Alcoa has recruited and didn’t just come there because their parents wanted the best for them).  They have also have been in AAA (not AA like your uneducated mind  just stated for a while now and moved to 4a because that’s the way the population is growing to if you knew anything about the school.  You would also know their middle school has closer to 500 students in it than 400 and that the same names have been coming through the Alcoa programs for decades. (Most come come from a small are of Alcoa).  This is coming from someone who has to compete with Alcoa but not scared to do to….

haha  oh my bad. I forgot that football and basketball were different. But didnt they just win AAA 10 years in a row and 17 total?

Thats all BS. They move their for because they are asked to by recruitment. Everyone and their mama knows it. They arent the only school that does this. The only schools that get in trouble are when it gets sloppy like what LA did last year and the year before.

No hold on a second. You’re trying to tell us Alcoa does NOT recruit?  Really?  You know yourself that is total BS. How many new impact players do they have show up year in and year out from other programs?  They have people gleaming these youth leagues looking for talent every year brother. So yeah they 1000% recruit not saying the head coach does but this program is consistent in its search for talent and yes some just show up that happens at every school from time to time but at Alcoa it’s a common occurrence for the football program.  The basketball program has been the beneficiary of two way athletes. Now having said all that if the transfers are done legally then I’m all for it. If it’s within the rules then it’s fair.  Now that T$$AA passed this new rule allowing kids to transfer it’s truly going to be a case of the haves as the have nots unfortunately.

I’m saying building the program the way they have has parents and kids that want to play for the program. (Your program Upperman has done the same thing here recently the same way my school has.  It’s following the Maryville and Alcoa model).  If you think Alcoa is actually “recruiting” as defined by how the TSSAA defines recruiting I would tell you to contact the TSSAA with your proof.  I think some of you don’t know what is actually “ recruiting” in the eyes of the TSSAA and just like throwing that word around

I don’t think Alcoa is doing anything illegal. They don’t have to  do they look for players absolutely just like the rest of us and it’s only gonna get worse now that it’s basically legal for kids to transfer.  Penny Hardaway had an illegal recruiting ring going on in Memphis at Memphis East.  That’s been proven.  The guy was sending out vans all over the county to pick up these kids and take them to school.  Since he’s left, you don’t even hear about that program anymore.  So it does happen but like I said it’s going to be a case of the haves and the have nots and that’s just the way of the world. However, coaching will still be a big part of it. If you don’t have a good head coach, you still might not be successful to a point of winning championships.  I can show you one Girls program in middle Tennessee that has had great players and nothing to show for the last two or three years.

Good win by Loretto. Their crowd was good and loud. Love seeing and hearing the respective towns cheering loud.

Thanks.  Great season to Tyner!  They have a great team.  Unfortunately, they had some younger fans by us that were atrocious.  Attacking kids verbally from a distance.  And chanting F*** Loretto the final min 45 seconds when they realized the game was getting out of hand.

    • Great post. I appreciate an intellectual discussion. I wrote "they" in my reference for figurative purposes. If the shoe fits. Honestly, I was referring more to the parents if I had to label a specific generation.  Only 1 statement you made in which I place myself on the opposing side. Effort and Commitment shouldn't change appearance. Those 2 terms have thousands of years of shaping (sports aside). I feel they are significantly pure when evaluating a football team and its capacity of both.  Maryville and Alcoa mastered the zip code thing you mentioned. When kids enroll there, they fully expect to win a state championship. I know that's kind of big scale and an extreme for the example, but it does exist. I support the idea of the old timers just saying how much better things were back then. I agree, that does nothing for kids. Zero motivational help. I guess I was taking the analytical approach and trying to examine some comparisons across the history of the program. Nothing against our kids in this community. We have some great athletes! With the proper guidance, they can be successful.
    • Based on this thread, the hurt feeling are coming from the AC haters.  When a kid transfers to AC it's recruiting. When a kid transfers to a Blount county school it's not.  Got it. [S]
