On Monday, the Ohio High School Athletic Association is expected to end its two-week investigation to determine whether James compromised his amateur status by accepting a Hummer H2 sports utility vehicle as a gift.

OHSAA commissioner Clair Muscaro has spent two weeks gathering information. The car's base retail price is $50,000.

If the OHSAA strips James of his amateur status, Muscaro said the senior would be ineligible for the rest of the season and the school would have to forfeit games from the time he received the SUV.

Gloria James reportedly obtained a bank loan to buy the Hummer, which was shipped from California equipped with three TVs and computer game hookups

It appears the OHSAA is very close to making a decision that will not only effect the future millionare but also his teammates and their quest to win the Ohio State Championship.

LeBron James has been cleared of any violations, make that his mother because LeBron James has done nothing wrong. When will we learn that the media will take any story to make money. All the paperwork was done by LeBron's mother and there was really no need to do an inquiry. Where her heart is, is obvious....money...money...money! And that is sad. It's okay to want a better life that money can bring, but to make that the only focus in life is very sad, and she seems focused only on money. The whole irony of it is that if she is not careful, money can be the downfall of her relationship with her son. I only wish LeBron James the best life has to offer once again. And that God will surround him with knowledged personnel to help him.

Ohio ath commission ruled that Lebron James did not accept an illegal gift. I don't see how they could have ruled any other way. It's in his mother's name, she supplied all the financial documentation from the bank, no other outside financing was involved. It was a loan from the bank to his mother. If a parent can't supply a car to their own kids then my son is illegal. So the payments don't start for another 6 months or after the NBA draft, which ever comes first! :D

Ohio state athletic association commissioner has stated that new rules will be written since this investigation has ended. He said, "It wasn't that Lebron had broke the exact rule, but his mother did circumvent the 'spirit' of the amateur rule by obtaining a loan based on 'future' or 'anticipated' earnings from his athletic abilities." He went to say that it will be difficult to regulate this in the future because unscrupulous people "push" the regulations to get money in the hands of student athletes with promises of 'loans' and future wealth. In this case, no one can prove Lebron's mother did anything wrong, but what will prevent companies from doing this at the college level? I'm sure the NCAA has already addressed this issue, but it is troubling. Again, all of this could have been avoided if the young man had just waited until after the season to drive his new vehicle to school.

How do we know that his mother couldn't afford a Hummer? :D

And, furthurmore, where will the line be drawn? Will it be illegal for a parent to buy their child, who is going to play football at Tennessee, a new Chevy Tahoe, a Ford Escort, what??????

Yes, he did put his amateur status on the line, but, there are loopholes everywhere......

If his mother had purchased a 2000 Ford Pickup or even a new Ford Escort, NO ONE WOULD HAVE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT IT! Look, my wife and I earn a 'better than average' income but I would not qualify for a H2 loan at $55,000 and I doubt a single mother on a fixed income would qualify if it were not for the "future status" of her son. Even then, it would be a stretch for any loan officer to okay the paperwork for the loan. I'm not saying she doesn't have "great credit" (I have no way of knowing) but credit alone will not put a Hummer in your driveway!

I don't see the problem with him getting a loan for an H2. I mean, he is a soon to have more money than he will know what to do with. His mom gave it to him. He has worked hard to get where he is at now. Maybe I'm to young to understand, but i don't see the problem with him planning on his future income. He is already making other people rich, why not treat himself?

that the OHSAA was going to do any different?

I think I'll go out and get a loan H2 for my 18-month old nephew now because he has potential for 'future' earnings due to his 'athletic ability.'

This is just a kid who knows he's the 1st pick in the draft getting his mom to get him a ride that, for one, is ugly to look at and, two, has more accessories in it than a bad rock band's tour bus.

My only question is this: Why not wait 4-6 months? The new models come out later in the year.

Everything that's wrong with high school/amateur athletics is being demonstrated with this kid, and yes y'all he is a kid.

What's next? A freshman that's 6-8, 230 and has a 46-inch vertical averaging 36 pts., 20 reb and 10 blocks a game and his mom get a loan for a stretch Navigator complete with 6 TV's, X-Box, PS2, GameCube and a PC with wireless broadband? Plus a driver?

Stop the insanity!!!!!
