No, I wasn't there Tuesday night. I was calling part of the Scott County tournament. According to Coach Hall, you guys played awfully well. You saw me at the Kingston game.

 

As for the Big School:

Lake City opted for the T-N-T. The boys would have been somewhere between 3 and 6---they beat split with Norris and Jacksboro and have a game to make up with SMMS.

 

LAKE CITY did beat SMMS on Monday night in OT, 62-58, so.....

A lot of excitement in Scott Co coming up with the tournament. Sounds like there will be full houses every night and the action will be good, too. Best of luck to each and every team. Kaz roots for the Indians. Who does everyone think will win it?

One other question, is Lake City Girls Basketball team NOT in the Large School Tournament? I mean, isn't the TMSAA the more attractive option from a recognition standpoint? Their girls are solid and I'm sure the other teams are overjoyed with the fact that they are not there. Kaz is puzzled

Here is Monday's results from Saturday's scheduled games:

 

Robbins over Coalfield, 48-40 or so

 

Burchfield over Oakdale, 42-31

 

These two teams move on to the quarterfinal round my friends.

I think Petros-Joyner is going to win it. They've got solid guards. The MVP of the Morgan County tournament scored 36 points against Oakdale. They've got a big guy inside who had 21 in the championship game. And the supporting cast is great too. I don't know if they will be beat. I don't think so. If there was a state tournament, they might be my pick to win that too. They haven't been beat yet, can they be beat?

Harvo, Petros is a good club, but they are getting ready to see a much improved Burchfield team that is athletic. Plus their bracket also includes a Oneida team that has made exceptional improvement since the first meeting this year. I would say if you are fortunate enough to get through that "minefield", Fairveiw or maybe Jellico or Wartburg will also give teams fits. This right now is anybodies tournament to win. Everybody is closer than you think.

I don't know why Lake City is going the TNT route, but they have for the past few years....Faith Dupree is a stud that you will hear about the next few years...she's about 6/3 if I'm not mistaken and also has a nice shot from outside.....

Oliver Springs beat PJ in the Hollis Eble Tournament, but I guess it's like a Hall of Fame game in that you don't have to count it if you lose.

PJ is a very good basketball team. In the Morgan County Tournament they played the best basketball I have seen them play all year. I know they got beat earlier in the year but I don't think they count it. Caleb Bunch is a very talented guard. Phillip Daugherty plays well inside. However if a team can handle the pressure from their guards they can be beat inside. PJ has one big kid that will not move. A team can really take advantage of that.

 

Only thing is.......I believe that many of the Scott County teams play a little better basketball than those in Morgan County. Pj may be the exception to that. Fairview is a very very good basketball team, we'll just have to see how it all shakes out!
