  1. The Hong Kong flu (H3N2) pandemic started in 1968 and that flu is still here today in mutated forms (Type A) from year to year, rendering vaccines less effective. COVID-19 and its mutated forms are, most likely, here to stay, vaccine or not. I agree that the vaccine is not the total answer. Precautions is all we can do. I believe that we should protect the vulnerable and everyone else should return to normal. There comes a time when mental health issues probably outweigh the COVID-19 issues.

  2. Plain old enrollment numbers are killing Whites Creek. They have 600 kids in a building built for 2000. Closing one of their feeder middle schools (Joelton) will further add to the problem. Glencliff has sheer numbers but lets put the PC aside and just say the clientele at Glencliff is more prone to the international version of football.

  3. Metro has had some great teams over the years but they would be best served if they'd trim their 13 playing schools down to 7-8 playing schools. 13 is just too many and the drop off is alarming from the top of the mountain to the bottom of the valley. Honestly it was 14 last year if you count RePublic.

  5. Do you think everyone will take the vaccine?? The flu shot is only taken by about 50% of the population. Secondly, the vaccine may not work for everyone like the flu shot. The vaccine is not the answer. We must live life and be smart doing it.

  7. Doesn't mean it was the right decision to make considering it affected 1/3 of the world's population. This virus has been held in check ( to a point, through no help from the fed gov't) because lessons were learned from previous pandemics. People need to prepare for the fact that in alot of areas (especially population centers) there will be restrictions on the amount of ppl in attendance, unless we as a society want to risk the chance of a 2nd wave that hits harder than the first I'll gladly sacrifice a year of football/sports for a chance at slowing the spread of this virus, I would absolutely hate it for the kids if it came to that, but there are things at stake bigger than HS sports

  11. 1918... end of the deadliest war in human history (at the time) , and much deadlier pandemic... football was played. A lot of things change in 100 years, for better or worse

  12. I saw Meigs in person in 2018 vs Rockwood and 2019 vs Greenback, SP, and Peabody. I personally thought your 2018 team was slightly better. Just my opinion though.

  13. Lots of teachers will be out of a job this year. That’s why I stayed at the beginning of this thread coaches shouldn’t be too upset if they lose their supplements. It’s better than losing a job completely. Some pay is better than no pay.

  14. Why don't we just play at Home Depot, Lowe's, Kroger, Walmart, Target and Costco. Sure didn't see any of those places getting drug through a briarpatch hanging onto a horse's tail with all this nonsense. I want to see some football this fall, not Boy in a Bubble.

  15. Do you have plans to come to Nashville anytime soon? If so, you could come see what we have and take what you want.

  16. Wow, that is a very good argument for your point. I appreciate the fact that you shared that with me. As a newbie in the area it just amazes me that a coach can get away with that and that everyone turns a blind eye. SMH

  17. If you go thru the past threads you will find this is nothing new on MY part as I have never covered up how I feel about Rankin. Heck I have even told him to his face. If this is a secret it is the worse kept one in the state. As to pulling my son, I DID. Only reason he went back was Coach Steve Britton. My son will tell you to this day he played for Britton and NOT Rankin. The pulling was because of Grades. I insisted my children maintain a certain level and it was NOT the minimum to play per T$$AA. Rankin told my son in my hearing his grades were fine as they were and one D was not the end of the world! It ended his football right then until Steve Britton came to me and asked me not to transfer my son to either Oakland or Eagleville as I already had it cleared for him to go to either of them with no time off for transferring. It is good to work directly for ALL the Judges in the County as their Investigator and then also Bird Hunt with the school boards Lawyer. The school Super at the time also told Rankin to leave it alone as he could not save him that time if he pushed it. This I got from the two of the other Coaches that overheard that conversation. Isn't Rankin a Vice Principal at Alcoa? Hard for a teacher to tell one of them NO when a 'favor' is asked. raider1234, believe me or not. In the words of Rhett Butler, "Frankly I do not give...............!". This however is my last words in this thread as I got better things to do with my life.

  18. Nothing against you, but that sounds like Rankin recruiting with the exception HE does not feed the steak. NOTHING comes out of his pocket. That is what a wealthy booster is for......and apartments......a job for Dad or Mom........... End of the Senior season, then its sorry kid, you are own your own! NCAA clearing house, whats that? Grades? Don't worry about them during the season.........I'll talk to your teacher.......... What do you mean your hurt? Talk to the trainer.......he will give you a shot to make it feel better........ TOO MANY BAD MEMORIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Slowly........staying close to home to keep away from that Mexican Beer virus. LOL Also Rankin is at Alcoa and NOT Maryville. The secret of Maryville's success was a firm foundation being built by a wonderful Coach named Quarles. Current Coach is smart enough to carry on that tradition. In all the years I have been on this board I have never heard a 'credible' rumor as to Maryville and recruiting. Folks make them all the time, but when it comes down to it they have no proof that it was done. As to Rankin, I have seen it up close and personal at R'dale when he was there. Helps when the school Superintendent and the head of the T$$AA cover ones butt also. If your friend wants to REALLY know, look up the threads about Rankin at Riverdale prior to 2005. While my son started all 4 years at R'dale it is NO SECRET I am NOT a Rankin fan. Respect his coaching ability, but not how he gets 'some' of his players and how he treats them.

  20. Your 'friend' either has to be the most naïve person in Tennessee or knows NOTHING about Rankin and his history in Tn football.

  21. As to recruiting with Gary Rankin, only three folks know the whole truth. Rankin himself, the players parents, and last of all the Coach on Rankin's staff used to do it so Rankin himself is shielded. Used to be his clip board holder at R'dale. I have no idea who it is at Alcoa. It will be plain as day come spring practice though. Rankin hates doing anything like this the last minute. Glad some things never change..............
