Here is the thing with EN, there is nowhere on campus to put another field without spending a ton of money which metro isn't going to do. Everyone knows it. It has been this way for many years. Why even bring it up. Bubba, Jim, and Brian all made it work.

You need to Wake-Up! Giles has Talent, an I really think they will make it past the first round. Opinions are like bungholes, everyone has one. I see another match-up between Giles & Alcoa, this year. And this year, they'll see how FANS, with some CLASS, carry themselves. Alcoa had a change in Staff and playing at the BrickYard, will a difficult game for them. When they match-up, I'll buy your Ticket for ya, and then we can Talk about the Talent, which Giles has. Let alone, One Heck of a Coaching Staff. Big Joe will have the Defensive Line ready, and they'll shut them DOWN. Which I predict them doing,to most of the TEAM'S in REGION PLAY. GO BOBCATS! Bad as I hate to say this BIGPURPLEMACHINE: I wish Marshall County the Best thie Season. They have a heck of a STAFF, too, An it really takes a lot for me to even think about Marshall County having a good Season. You know, as well as I do, the bitter Rivalary which lay between Marshall & Giles. One that goes way back. But, I do wish them the Best, an I will be pulling for them to have a good Season! Can't believe I just said that.

Coach Bill Brimer was one of a kind!!! Loved Coach Brimer to death and he was our Freshman Head Coach. I still remember stretching before our first freshman scrimmage and Coach came over to me and hit me in the helmet with his metal whistle and ask “are your ears ringing yet”? Then proceeded to tell me that’s what it’s going to sound like when you lay someone out in the A gap. I graduated with Joel and was the starting MLB my Senior year on the same side Joel was the DE. Still believe if Joel didn’t get hurt in the first quarter of the Quarter Finals game against Sullivan South we would have beaten them again like we did on the regular season. Our biggest defender was myself and our other MLB at 205lbs but we were mean and most of our Dline all wrestled. I’m sure @noonesfool can tell you same great stories about Bill too since he was a former Devil Coach and Vice Principal

So, latest scrimmage info is that Southside comes to Covington this Friday, 7/29. Start time is 8:30 AM. I assume to avoid the heat.

Agree that East should have an artificial turf field like Hillsboro. Others should get one too. It is my belief that metro should be installing these as the main field and allowing the middle schools to use them for ballgames whenever schedule allows.

I hope Giles Co. gets to the semifinals in 3A this year and gets to host Alcoa down at The Brickyard. Now that they’ve played Alcoa once I wonder how they would try to play them if given another shot at them. David O’Connor and his staff always do a great job of scheming and I would be shocked if they got manhandled by Alcoa the way that they did last year if they happen to meet up on Thanksgiving in Pulaski.

You do realize that HS football is there for the kids, right? It's easy for you to throw some elitist comment out there that degrades struggling programs, but what isn't easy is to elevate struggling programs into a competitive team every night of the season. One last thing, football is elective...kids aren't forced to participate in an activity that you obviously think is an embarrassment to them if they don't achieve a certain level of success, but if they do elect to play, they get the same sense of belonging, the same tutelage and mentorship, the same physical fitness, and the same commitment of their time away from elements of society detrimental to them becoming productive citizens. Take the option to play, even for a "bad" (your perception) team, away from those who wish to play and you've taken something from them that you can't replace.
